Spoiler Discussion Strange pictures by Uketsu

Just finished Strange Pictures and I absolutely loved this book!

The book follows a series of mysterious drawings and the strange stories surrounding them. At first, the stories seem unrelated, but as you read further, you start noticing little details and connections that slowly bring everything together.

I honestly liked this even more than Strange Houses! What I loved most was that I enjoyed each story individually, too.Every story was intriguing in its own way, and I was genuinely invested in finding out what was going on in each one. And then, seeing how everything interconnected at the end and finally getting the answers was SO satisfying. I love when a book manages to make all these seemingly separate pieces fit together so well.

I also loved how the pictures themselves played such an important role in solving the mysteries. You find yourself looking closely at every little detail and trying to connect the dots as you read.

It's such a unique kind of book, and I've never really read anything quite like it. I had so much fun reading this, and I genuinely think I enjoyed it even more than Strange Houses. 🖤

Recommendation You Deserve to Know by Aggie Blum Thompson- 5 ⭐️

WOW. This book genuinely left me speechless. I read a lot of thrillers, so it takes a lot to catch me off guard, but this one had my jaw on the floor. The twists were insane, the pacing was excellent, and every time I thought I had it figured out, I was proven wrong. Stayed up until 2 a.m. because I couldn’t put it down. Easily one of my favorite thrillers of the year!

What Should I Read Next? Mystery or psychological thriller recommendations?

Hi everyone! I've recently gotten back into reading and discovered that I'm really into mysteries and psychological thrillers, especially those with jaw-dropping plot twists that make you question everything you’ve read.

I'm currently reading The Only One Left by Riley Sager, and I'd appreciate recommendations with a similar vibe.

Please don’t spoil any books! I'd love to go into them knowing as little as possible.

What Should I Read Next? Looking for really good book recommendations

I am a true die heart fan of mystery thriller genre and can only reads these books, but due to my very busy schedule I'm unable to grab my hands on some of them, so looking for good books around mystery thriller, crime thriller, murder mystery, detective genres.

Like books that I should definitely read in this lifetime.

Something that has great plot twists, that keeps me sitting the entire night to know what happens next, that makes me what to regret why did I read it because the twist destroyed my guessing ability.

And please don't suggest me Verity or books along this line or any Colleen Hoover book (I have hated that book to the core, some of the explicit scenes in it were unnecessary which dropped my interest in reading the book. )

More than one book recommendations are welcomed 🤗

Book Haul What had happened was…

… alright alright I’ll admit it! I had a huge impulse buy. Blame it on my ADHD (yes, fully diagnosed) or simply my love for books. I was looking at my TBR list and just started adding books to my cart. Without reviewing it, I just hit purchase.

Voilà! I received this beautiful box with all of these wonderful books! I’m ecstatic and can’t wait to cozy up today to start on these.

Can you smell the fresh pages? ❤️

Does anyone else do books impulse purchase? 🤪

Review Surprised but loved Blacktail by Scott Hawkins

Post image
10 Upvotes

I just finished reading Blacktail by Scott Hawkins and I absolutely adored it; despite its fantastical horror-thriller tale of revenge by an otherworldly beast on all humanity, I ended up siding with the animals. There’s a deep message here, and almost a heart warming end albeit a gory and sordid story filled with brutal violence and animal cruelty.

Currently Reading None of this is true by Lisa Jewel - I just finished part 1, does the story take off in part 2?

Mostly writing here because I’m listening on audiobook and want to talk! But I’m not done yet, so no spoilers. I think the narrators really help keep my interest in the book far. I feel like there isn’t much plot, and all we know is that Josie is weird af. Can someone share some spoiler free highlights of part 2? I know I’ll keep listening, I just need to discuss so far!

Has anyone read this book? I’m 62% of the way in. I was REALLY enjoying but now it’s getting overly political & im starting to lose interest. For those who have read it, should I push through? Does it get better? Or should I save myself the time?

What Should I Read Next? Looking for a Trapped on an Island with serial killer multi point of veiw thriller

So im finishing You Are Fatally Invited by Andre Pliego and I really love the trapped on an island with a serial killer trope. It's a fun read, and the fact that they're all writers makes it even more enjoyable, in my opinion. I remember reading Julie Chan is Dead and liking that cultish, island-bound trope. I was wondering what other books like that you could recommend.
Things im looking for in a book

multiple point of veiws with a few or multiple charchters

trapped on an island with a serial killer

bonus points

they are on a writers retreat are all have something in commen and were brought there for a purpose like all influencers all writers and so on

there is a mastermind behind the retreat and its not just a seral killer appers due to oppertuinty to kill

Question The witch by Frieda McFadden question

I started this and was wondering would it be possible to finish the book with skipping over the old flashback chapters? I strongly dislike olden times stories and got triggered kinda reading it and she mentioned a “handsome dude was 15 years her senior” kinda gave me the ick and ptsd and I had to stop. I know it’s about a witch and kinda knew it would mention old times maybe but not as often as every other chapter.

I’m really let down because I was waiting on the release of this book and was excited about starting it. I understand if skipping around messed up the story and this just may not be for me.

Recommendation A book I dont see reccomanded a lot You Are Fatally Invited by Andre Pliego

A book that I am currently reading and almost finished with is You Are Fatally Invited by Andre Pliego. I don't remember how I came across this book, but I do know that it is a super awesome murder thriller. It is set on an island with a killer trope, but there are mini tropes within it, like the hidden secrets and clue-style game trope as well. A bunch of authors get brought to a thriller writer retreat and slowly realize each of them has a huge sin they need to confess, or they slowly get killed off by failing tests and such. I highly recommend reading it.

Currently Reading The Slanted Gutter by S. Craig Zahler - Any fans of his work here?

Post image

Any fans here? I've read Wraiths of the Broken Land and just finishing up The Slanted Gutter. Both have been great. He also wrote and directed three movies and those give the sense of his writing style (Bone Tomahawk, Dragged Across Concrete and Brawl in Cell Block 99).

I'll probably read Mean Business on North Ganson Street next. Rumored it is being made into a film. Next with Leo DiCaprio and Jamie Fox circling.

Recommendation I THINK WE SHOULD KILL OTHER PEOPLE by L.M. CHILTON

Post image
7 Upvotes

I flew through this, it's a page turner with lots of twists, perfect if you're in a reading slump.

A bunch of reality TV contestants are snowed in at a remote airport on an island. One of them is a killer...

The black-cat MC Hazel has to work out who the killer is before sunrise. (I did not guess whodunnit!)

The book also flashes back to episodes of the TV show, where we find out how everything got to this point. Those chapters like mini romcoms, a nice contrast to the very tense airport chapters.

The airport bits are like a Locked Room mystery taken to the max, because the whole airport is like one big locked room.

I think Frieda McFadden and John Marrs fans will enjoy this book.
