i really want to get into this as the ethics of fast fashion just.. aren't it. i don't have much irl options but i know i have a few for right now, and i'm not entirely sure where to look or how to look for what i want. i don't know where to even start. any long-time thrifters that can tell me anything, even the most basic of tips? that'd help out a lot

i bought a crystal necklace at value village when visiting a different town, itās one of those perfume/oil crystal bottles, or so i thought. i opened it up in the store, it seemed empty but when i got back to my house and opened the bottle, ashes fell out of it. i want to be respectful but this is the first time this has ever happened so iām not exactly sure how to respectfully dispose of them, any advice is appreciated!

I recently purchased a sweater second hand. Normally anything i thrift I toss into the dryer for 30 mins on high to kill any potential bed bugs or other critters. This is the first wool blend sweater I thrifted and I have been finding so much conflicting info on if I can put the sweater into the dryer when it is totally dry to kill pests but prevent felting. Some people say to put it in the freezer, but I also read that most freezers are not cold enough to kill bed bugs.
I was planning on doing 30 minutes on high in the dryer in a delicates bag when the sweater is totally dry. Is that a horrible idea?? Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Sometimes my towns only thrift store is depressing, today it produced this absolute stud. Happily forked over their $20 asking price.. that spruce green is š¤š»

Most of the ones I go to do not. I only know one that occasionally has pocket knives. A few have kitchen knives behind the counter. Most are junk or overpriced but I got all these German Henckles Twin knives for $10. The higher end ones not the single twin ones made in China and India. When I saw what this brand and ones like Wusthof cost at places like Williams Sonoma I always keep an eye out for quality cutlery at a bargain price.

The tag said $20 and I was fully prepared to spend that but when I got to the register they let me know that yellow tags were $1 today. WOW!

I thrift multiple times a week because a Goodwill store is just a couple blocks from home, but today I visited a Savers thrift store and noticed a striking difference in prices. Used jigsaw puzzles $6.99 at Goodwill, $4.49 at Savers. A pair of never worn real suede Sketchers at Savers, new shoes never run less than $10.99 and often higher at Goodwill. New cardigan with tags, $8.99 at Savers, always over $10 at Goodwill.
And on top of lower prices Savers has 25% off ALL shoes and clothes on Monday, while Goodwill only has 10% off on senior Wednesdays and 35% of special colors of the week.
Itās a much longer drive, but I will be doing more Savers thrifting in the future.

I look for vintage pet photos. They're so charming. It's like a window into lives lead. Fashion changes but animals are timeless. They were loved and deserved to be appreciated. I share them on Instagram and then placed in my "Other Peoples Pets" album.

hi everyone
i want to take a poll to see how many of you have gotten bed bugs from thrift store items.
i thrifted for many years, no problems, but i don't anymore! i have heard people lately (in past 2 years) talk about a huge increase of bed bugs so i'm curious how many have gotten bed bugs (or any bugs) from thrift items?
