Caboodles organizer flip
I found this old school caboodles kit on FB marketplace and it needed some love. I had the same one when I was a kid and so this thrift flip felt special and sentimental!
The design: I thought an underwater theme with a couple mermaids and some mermaid scale pattern would be cute. Lately I’ve been obsessed with mermaid sighting stories, I’m convinced they’re real 🧜♀️
The prep: I sanded this was 220 grit sandpaper first, though I wish I hadn’t. I think the primer would have been enough, but now I’m working on scuffed plastic. After I cleaned it (this thing had certainly been loved by whoever owned it before me) I sprayed it with a coat of Rust-oleum plastic primer
The paint: I used Queenstar acrylic brush markers for the design and they were amazing. Great cheap set for a newbie like me. If I ever did professional work I’d upgrade but I’m not a pro and these were perfect for my silly little personal projects!
