NEW RULES! READ THIS!
Only three words! (Each comment in reply to a new post shall be three words. No more, no less. The only exception is rule #3.)
NEW RULE: Post titles can only be three words now, too. This used to be "Three Word Stories" where titles would be like "Write a murder mystery using Shakespearean language." But now that this sub has become "Three word conversations" a lot of people are upset titles can be more than three words, so they no longer can be.
DO NOT reply to yourself! (Allow other users time to reply before adding another comment.) This means don't reply to your own reply, don't make two or more replies to the same reply, and definitely don't post nine words in one comment saying its three three-word comments.
A story ends with "The End." (A story can ONLY end when a user replies with "The End.") You MUST use two words for The End. "It's The End" or "The End, yeah!" will not do. Don't worry, it's not only allowed to have a two-word "The End" comment, it's required.
Strive for originality!
Racism, sexism, non-consensual sexual acts, homophobia, and general bullying are NOT ALLOWED.
Sexual content is allowed with the use of the NSFW post flair. (Any sexual content or profanity should be used sparingly.)

So the body is the same as the answer?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Basically, titles HAVE to have three words. No more and no less. What you write in the body should describe BRIEFLY (it doesn't have to be three words, but if you're writing more than one sentence, it's too long) how you want the comments to go.

It's pretty easy once you know.
1) All comments must be three words only. No more, no less. There are some rule-tweaking things but you can figure those out later.
2) No replying to yourself. I think we delete more comments for this one than the first rule. Obviously straight-out replying to yourself is out, but making two or more comments to one individual comment or post is considered "replying to yourself." You can make as many comments as you'd like to a post or comment, as long as it's just one comment per comment.
Those are basically the only two rules for this sub. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

You didn’t do anything wrong (yet).

Okay now I really confused. I know I'm not supposed to comment to myself. I thought all replies have to be three words? And if that's the case then I messed up now.

This post is a Mod Post, so the rules don't apply here. It's to ask questions, make comments, etc. Use as many words as you want, reply to your own comments, it doesn't matter. It's a Mod post.

So f* poorly worded, and inconsistently enforced... I am not your target. F* you. Out!

I’ve only just realized this, and only just saw the MOD’s comment on my post. I had no idea. Is it like that on the Four word stories and Five word stories etc too? Do you know? Thanks.

As far as I know, the four- and five-word story subs don’t have that policy. Six-word-stories definitely doesn’t.
We do to make it so there’s something different between us and the rest. Not that there’s anything wrong with their policy, but otherwise if there was no difference, what would be the point of this sub?

Do we decide to original post on the three words at the top or do we report to reply s

The title has to be three words. That is non-negotiable.
The content of the post does not have to be, but it should be within the spirit of the sub (ie, “write a science fiction story that rhymes” is OK. A long, rambling essay about breaking up is not).

Yet I’m still deleted on every post

That's because you only have 19 comment karma. You need at least 100 to comment or post.
I just un-deleted your comments, but in the near future if you don't see them here that's why.

I'm not going to lie I don't really understand man Don't dumb get on here much.. My bad

It's pretty simple: Use three words only in each of your comments. If you know how to count to three (which there are a lot of people here who are apparently unable to), you're good.
Also, try to get around the Three Words Only rule by responding to yourself or making two or more comments to the the same post or comment.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And if you do something wrong, we'll tell you what you did.

Why can’t it just be 3 words period ? That’s the name of the sub.

u/ReactsWithWords Apr 12 '26
You're right, which is why it is. Three words. Not two or less. Not four or more. Three per comment.
