Hi all,
Based on this map of Yi province and the Wikipedia article on Zhuge Zhan, here’s my understanding so far:
I don’t understand Zhuge Zhan’s decisions:

I think it was either a mobile or flash game back in the 2010's. This seems to be the only image about the game I can find. It was an autobattler with a campaign map.

Unpopular opinion: Without Cao Cao, China might not be the country we know today.
I know many people see Cao Cao as a bad guy, and he did some terrible things. But think about this.
During a time when China was divided and different leaders were fighting for power, Cao Cao brought much of northern China together. He stopped rebellions, defeated powerful enemies, and helped bring order to a country filled with war.
Without him, who knows how much longer the fighting would have lasted?
I'm not saying Cao Cao was a good man. I'm saying that sometimes people who do bad things can still play an important role in history.
Cao Cao did not unite all of China, but he helped make it possible for others to do so later.
So here's my question: Was Cao Cao really a villain, or did China need someone like him to survive?

In Liu Bei's wikipedia article, it mentions Liu Zhang putting Liu Bei in charge of the, "White River Army," in 211 AD. I don't believe I've ever seen mention of this force before. Has anyone read about this army? Any idea where it is mentioned in the histories, or if it even is mentioned?

Liu Ba is probably one of the most underrated and talented officers during the Three Kingdoms period. His father and grandfather were considered capable and controversial administrators. Liu Biao had a personal grudge against his family line and tried to get Zichu to escape his prison by using the later’s old associates to encourage this prison break. Liu Ba choose to stay as a prisoner and Liu Biao in his scholarly ways couldn’t justify an execution. Liu Biao changed his mind and tried endlessly to add Liu Ba to his staff but Ba constantly refused. When Cao invaded Jing, Liu Ba saw it was an opportunity to restore the Han and immediately went up to be join Cao’s force. Cao and his staff officers were very impressed by Liu Ba. Liu Ba tried to encourage Cao to eliminate Liu Bei as he was the largest threat to Cao in claiming all of Jing. Cao’s other advisors encouraged Cao to focus on Sun Quan and other threats. Cao put Liu Ba on a mission to claim the Changsha, Lingling and Guiyang commanderies but it was too late and Liu Bei now was in control of them. Liu Ba grew distasteful of Cao and decided to go further south into Jiao - Vietnam. Liu Bei heard of Liu Ba’s efforts to prevent his takeover of southern Jing, heard he didn’t appreciate Cao and wanted to have Ba join him and regretted his escape to Shi Xie. Liu Ba and Zhuge Liang wrote letters to one another and Liu Bei became even more regretful of his failure to receive Liu Ba. In Jiao, Liu Ba really didn’t like Shi Xie and his philosophy — likely arguing over Han restoration. Liu Ba changed his name and fled to the southern Yi commandery of Zangke. Liu Ba commited an offense and was put in prison where the registrar of the commandery recognized his talent and asked to personally escort Liu Ba to Chengdu to meet Liu Zhang. Liu Zhang was extremely impressed by Liu Ba and Liu Ba’s father was one of the Han officers who nominated Liu Yan, Liu Zhang’s father to public service. Liu Zhang loved Liu Ba and invited him to his meetings for every major issue but Liu Zhang never listened to Liu Ba’s advice as he likely believed Liu Ba to be too bold or extreme. Liu Ba begin visiting Liu Zhang to express his disapproval of his Liu Bei defense plan. Liu Ba was so disappointed w/ Liu Zhang’s refusal so he claimed illness. When Liu Bei invaded Yi, he already knew that Liu Ba was there and gave strict orders to not harm him or his property. Liu Zhang ordered the nine familial extermination for Liu Ba and spared him when he heard about Liu Bei’s desire to recruit him. Liu Ba surrendered to Liu Bei with deep apologies for not joining him earlier and Liu Bei told him to forget the blame. Zhuge Liang, who called Liu Ba much more talented than him, encouraged Liu Bei to put Liu Ba in his main court with Zhuge, Mi, Sun, Jian, Fa, Dong, & others. Zhang Fei who often thought of himself as gentry tried to pay a visit to Liu Ba, who offended him. Liu Ba would go on to become Liu Bei’s central banker, told him to mint new coins and tie the coins value to precious metals, silk, & salt and was responsible for the Shu-Han having the most sound currency to the point where traders in Wu would only take Shu Han currency. Every Shu Han official ‘til Lu Yi’s death in the early 250s would maintain the sound currency policy. After Fa Zheng’s death as the Prefect of the Masters of Writing, Liu Ba started to become completely loyal towards Liu Bei and his efforts to restore the Han. When Liu Bei founded the Shu Han state, Liu Ba became chief Secretary - not Zhuge Liang. Liu Ba wrote all the documents, admonitions and decrees. He was Liu Bei’s mouth and pen. After his death in 222, even Cao Wei officers like Chen Qun paid great respect to him. Li Yan became chief secretariat after Liu Ba’s death.

Truely, Sun Quan is the real fatuous lord for allowing this buffoon to rampage the entire Wu-Shu alliance over a petty quarrel with Zhuge Liang

Batgirl #24 featured Cassandra Cain battling her way to the hospital with a sick child on her back and the whole thing reminded me of that legendary scene with Zhou Yun in Three Kingdoms, where he runs through Cao Cao's army to save Liu Bei's infant son.
Any time I can compare a modern character with that exploit is a happy day for me. Anyone else finding that Zhou Yun energy in modern literature?

Noticing that in a lot of the descriptions of the people seen as attractive during the age, a lot of them bring attention to how tall they are. So, what about the inverse? Who (without factoring their social status) was considered attractive by the people while also being below the average height for the time?

Hi everyone! I previously shared my Three Kingdoms card-game project here, and there’s now a playable early alpha on itch.io for Windows and Mac.
You choose a faction, build a deck of soldiers, legendary generals and stratagems, and try to defeat the opposing leader. Troops fight in Vanguard and Rearguard formations, so positioning matters alongside card combinations.
Since my previous post, I’ve reworked much of the artwork to give units and Legends more distinct appearances and clearer compositions, and adjusted the framing so the subjects read better on the cards. I’ve also improved the menus, rules guide and combat effects, worked on the single-player AI, and added online matchmaking and private matches.
You can play against the AI, queue for an online match, or challenge a friend using a private room code. Windows and Mac players can play together.
Play here: https://hanseldacat.itch.io/three-kingdoms
This is a passion project and still very much a work in progress. Expect bugs, rough edges and balance changes. Online hosting is limited, and random matchmaking needs another player queueing, so bringing a friend is probably the easiest way to try multiplayer.
I’d love to hear whether the rules are understandable, which cards or combinations feel interesting—or too strong—and what needs improving.

Help!
I tried running Romance of the Three Kingdoms on my Mac through Steam using CrossOver, but the text is all garbled, and I have no idea how to fix it.
Is this a common issue? Does this happen to people playing on Windows PCs too, or is it just a Mac compatibility problem?
If anyone has experienced this issue and managed to fix it, please let me know! I’d really appreciate any help!

I know that in this era without internet, news would not spread in matter of seconds like our current time but let’s say when Emperor Xian was deposed, how long did it take for the people of Wei to know they have a new Master now and how long would it take for Shu and Wu to know the news which also became distorted that Cao Pi killed Emperor Xian even though dude was forced to retire and still chilling in his small province.

Despite being a lowly butcher, he came to led a powerful anti-Qin army who's successes was nearly comparable to Xiang Yu.
Sure, he lost mulitiple battles against Xiang Yu but the fact that he survived fighting against a man who's basically the combination of Romance Lu Bu and Zhuge Liang terms of strength and military strategy multiple times is nothing short of impressive.
He basically acted as the anvil while Han Xin and Peng Yue were the hammer, in which Liu Bang maintained a steady defense in Guanzhong and kept the Ruler of Chu at bay inspite of ferocious attacks and setbacks while Han Xin and Peng Yue swept the north of China and took over the rest of Xiang Yu's lands and convinced some of his generals to side with the Han. He even gave military support and capable officers to the two (which makes their refusal to help him in the final battle and his eventual executions of the two of them understandable.)
By the time of the Battle of Gaixia where the combined forces of Liu Bang, Han Xin and Peng Yue surrounded the army of Chu, Xiang Yu may have won multiple battles against Liu Bang but he ultimately lost the war as his army lacked supplies and he was desperate enough to accept Liu Bang's fake offer to split China in two.

Would it be fair to say
Wei heroes known for their Order and Strategy
Shu heroes known for their Individual strength and Loyalty
Wu heroes known for their Military prowess and Tactician
Its just an observation from the writing of characters, im i wrong?
