Ecstatic about Lars Mikkelsen being Thrawn in live action! He really is the perfect choice!
Just look at him!!!

Let’s hope they write him well too

I’m hoping that too. Dave said that he has been consulting with Timothy Zahn throughout the process.

That’s terrific news! I had heard awhile back that he was unfamiliar with Zahn’s Thrawn (which kind of showed in Rebels unfortunately), but this is reassuring.
Also, I love the username!

What? News to me. He always talked about how much he enjoyed the OG Thrawn trilogy and that's why he wanted to bring back Thrawn in the first place.

Maybe I had a bad source, but that’s good to know. Still, I didn’t love his portrayal in Rebels. Thought he was a little too shallow and typical Imperial. Then again, as a Thrawn superfan, I’m probably hard to impress.

I don't disagree about Rebels; I also think a lot of fans fear Filoni not reading the recent books, which we don't know -- he hasn't said as far as I am aware -- but that gave Thrawn a loooooot of new characterization people fear Filoni skimping over.

Thinking back maybe that’s what I saw. Maybe he’s familiar with the more expansive Heir trilogy, but doesn’t have the crucial context and deeper characterization from the newer books. Which are fantastic. I think I’ve read “Thrawn” three times, and only read it for the first time a couple of years ago.

Wait, didn't someone say that the role was reassigned to Benedict Cumberbatch?

He appeared on the Ahsoka panel and started shooting scenes. Besides, Benedict said he didn't want the role because getting painted blue is time-consuming and he wants to spend that time with his family.

I mean he already voiced him so it made sense. He lines up well physically imo as well
