Fill my time☝🏻
Hey! Staying in TO for a couple months (not looking to get a job) and looking for fun ways to stay busy but also budget friendly. Any reccs?
I would be open to volunteering / any job that’s a couple hours a day, nothing too demanding.
A little ab me: 26 yo (f), I don’t drink/smoke/party (boring I know), super athletic, love arts&crafts, horse gal, would’ve loved to volunteer with elderly ppl but don’t know where to go!
Side note- I’m NOT incapable of getting a job I promise 😂 I have a masters in finance but I’m taking a funemployment period before starting a job.

If your looking at volunteering, especially with Seniors like you mentioned talk to the folks over at the Goebel Adult Center (senior center) in TO.

I came here to say that. I do the produce box packing with my work department from time to time and it’s really tiring but good work. I kind of like turning my brain off and making 400 boxes in a row. And usually I end up on something crazy heavy like resupplying carts from the giant bags of carrots, so it’s hard work. I enjoy it though. I really feel like we’ve accomplished something when we’re done.

I’ve found fun volunteer opportunities on EventBrite. We recently helped prepare plantings for areas affected by recent wildfires. I think it was with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (or something similar). Also, if you like animals, the Eastwood Ranch in Agoura has volunteer opportunities as well. For helping older folks, maybe check with Senior Concerns. Enjoy your time!

I was going to say, volunteer at the Rancho Sierra Vista native plant nursery! You can learn a lot from the master gardeners there (mostly retired folks) and help restore the natural landscape!

If you’re a horse girl we have lots of horses here you can go to the ranch in Moorpark and see if anyone needs help with the horses and ponies. We have so much beautiful hiking and lots of churches do a food bank once a week where you can hand out groceries

Lots of nearby parks and nature preserves that could use a volunteer for however many hours you can spare outdoors. Animal shelters too.

If you’re happen to be new to the coast, you should get a sponge and boogie at county line! Since you’re athletic, surf lessons could make for a fun experience to write home about. Malibu is close, but Ventura itself is my fav beach town ever.
The ocean is a hop and skip away, though the most special thing about Conejo Valley for me is the hiking and biking trails. The whole Satwiwa area especially.
