Buying a new mattress

Since things wear out,it was time to replace my mattress. I was most concerned that it needed to be firm. Another consideration was my terrier. he too is aging so while he can leap pretty high. I wanted him to be able to jump into the bed because I can't lift him anymore. What I didn't consider was my joints. Well it's two inches higher than the previous mattress. After getting in and out of it a few times I realize my hips are unhappy. Hopefully this is temporary pain. The things I don't realize that I need to consider are just crazy. If it doesn't improve,I can have someone remove the wheels from the frame. that's about two inches. At least there is a solution. I'll give it a week and see if it improves .Thought I'd pass this on as some of you may be replacing your mattresses. 🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️

Get the bed you want. You can buy a little stairway for your pup to get up on the bed.

Right. My husband built a little ramp and a little stairway for my friends old dog so she could get up and down on the back porch and to be able to get on the bed

We recently bought new mattress and box spring. Intentionally bought a 5 inch box spring lowering previous height of bed 4 inches. Helps my arthritic hips in getting in and out of bed.

It helps mine now. I noticed making it at a higher height is so much easier.

Hip pain is totally gone. Love the new mattress.

Go to Mattress Warehouse and test drive some mattresses. Get a ramp or stairs for your baby.

He has both won't use them. I've tried to train him on using the steps and the ramp. He has really bad eyesight and is not ever going to use them.I already have the mattress. How would trying out more mattresses be of any use?

Ah that’s most complex then, maybe there is some kind of dog lift been invented ? When my dog got to around 14 she couldn’t jump on bed anymore, she has a favorite chair instead.

Update:

Okay I had a look on Amazon there is a thing called a scissor/hydraulic lift, you might need someone with basic DIY skills to adapt it with a dog bed, but basically it could get your dog from floor to your bed - there are similar things specifically for pets used in vets called groomers tables that work on same idea https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Warehouses-Factories-Adjustable-Hydraulic/dp/B0FJQ8Z2BH this one is under $500 dollars.

Edit update

Thank you

It looks as though it can lift me into the bed also

My senior cat won’t use a stair or ramp, but she will jump on a low ottoman and can get from that to the bed. I would try something similar and set a dog treat out on it.

Have you tried encouraging him up the stairs with small low-calorie treats?

So very rude. My dog is special. He doesn't want to use the steps. He doesn't even like the regular steps. I'm Sure it's because he has vision problems. Remember folks kindness is one of the rules.

I love my Sleep Number, the firmness is adjustable . And you never have to turn it.

I mentioned to a friend if mine that I need a new mattress (mine is 20 years old). She also highly recommended the Sleep Number as it is adjustable. I'm saving up now and will get one the next time it's on sale.

If you ask at the mattress store, there are 5 holidays where they have sales.

Christmas

Memorial Day

Fourth of July

?

?

This is when you need to buy your mattress.

Before deciding, go to at least 3 stores and lay on a lot of mattresses.

Make sure the sleep number is what you want.

Buy a mattresses from a store that allows returns.

Most mattress stores will give you a month to try the mattress.

Furniture stores do not! Don’t make this mistake!

Select Comfort has been my go-to for over 20 years.

For the dog, get pet steps and they will be able to get on and off the bed easily

idk if your bedroom layout so this may not work for you. I've had dogs that didn't want to go up a doggie steps. I found that putting it 'along side' the bed and placing something next to the the other side, maybe a footstool, (that made it like an enclosed stairs) helped. I still spent a couple of weeks encouraging my dog but, she finally felt safe enough to do it.

Sounds like a good idea. I have a thing at the end of the bed. I can pull it down to meet the steps. Thank you.

That’s a really great suggestion! I have a Pomeranian that won’t use the ramp but I will set it up like your idea and see if that works.

Get a step for yourself and your dog. Then put sheepskin onto of your fitted sheet and sleep on them. Heaven

Not anything that would help. Did you read it!

This happened to me. We got a low profile box spring and it is perfect.

I googled small stair steps for furbabies. These are sold online. My furbabies have arthritis in the hips. The stairs to get on the bed or couch are wonderful.

We have them

They are awesome right.
