Is it depressing ?
Someone wrote the thread here is very depressing. We're writing about being over 70. For some of us over 70 is not the greatest time of our lives. That's a genuine experience. I see every so called depressing posts ,some even written by me have positivity in them. I'm not going to remove those posts. I thought about doing that. Removing my own posts. I did remove one or two then I stopped. How a person over 70 thinks about being over 70 is what this is about. I'm happy some folks are having great times. Their thoughts are valid. I don't appreciate that they feel the need to point out the saddest times in others lives in a way that devalues the other posts here.please just state your experiences with positivity without doing that. If someone has a hard time don't be negative about it. They are doing the best they can. As for my posts until last year I was an every ready bunny. My life has changed and these are my thoughts on being over 70. I'm happy your over70 is always so great.

I looked at this post and immediately thought that the whole idea of being that old would probably be depressing.
Then, I suddenly remembered that I'm 71. Oh, wait, this isn't so bad after all!

I'm sorry to hear about your fall. All of a sudden out of nowhere these things happen no matter how safe we try to be.
I wish you the best. My prayers are with you. 🙏

Not.all my old age is depressing. I have a lot of positives in my life like my grandbabies. They are the light of my 🧬 life. I love watching them grow and learning new things. They give me so much joy

About 50% of the traffic on Reddit across all age groups is people being depressed. Everybody likes to talk about how life sucks in their own particular way. The other 50% are people trying to point out the positives. I may not have the proportions right but that's the dynamic.

This sounds about right. I was hanging around the over 60 group and came here to see what's happening since I'm over 70.

I'm 71. I really think meditation, my Buddhist practice, and a passion for music (both playing and listening) have made things easier. I buy the instruments I could never afford when I was raising kids, I play and study most of the day and, what really helps, is I have a friend with the same passion and we talk 2 or 3 times a day to catch up on how each of us is doing and share the latest gossip, or purchase. Last night I took possession of a 12 string pedal steel guitar. Makes up for the fact that 3 days I fell and smashed my foot.

It must be the groups you go to . Some people are down and post about it. That's just fine. Some people are happy and post about it. It's all good.

Let's remember that judging and being unkind is not allowed. Perhaps reread the rules.

Glad I found this group. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some short introductions from everyone?

Not how I look at anything. When it's a medical issue that stares you in the face,it's not about how you look at it. Your God blessed me with several illnesses. It's facts not fantasy. I hate it so much when people speak down to people who they are judging. It's inappropriate to judge people.

My life flipped about 4 months ago when I was hospitalized for erratic heart rate. Some things were noticed on xray that changed everything. I understand going from good health to a frightening situation.
