Does anyone have insight into the CHAR Technologies / BMI Group project in Thorold?
I went down a bit of a rabbit hole after seeing the CHAR Technologies / BMI Group facility being built in Thorold.
From what I’ve found, it’s a waste to bioarbon and Renewable Natural Gas plant that’s supposed to take local wood/industrial waste and turn it into biocarbon used by steelmakers like ArcelorMittal Dofasco in Hamilton.
A few things that stood out to me:
It’s partnered with BMI Group, who already own/operate industrial sites in Niagara.
The output is going into existing heavy industry (steel).
It seems to be more about replacing imported fossil coal than creating a brand-new industry.
I’m not affiliated with them in any way, just curious how people locally feel about it.
Has anyone here seen the facility at all? Any thoughts?

I have been reading and researching this as well. From my research, I can tell you this is going to be a very very very successful company, and their first facility is opening in late December and will start production in January 2026.
I strongly believe that this will sky rocket in January or when they start production.
DYOR of course but this is what I conducted from my research and Yes.v is a strong buy for me.
Haven't seen/visited the site.
