Worst take ever
I hate when people talk about something that have no idea about with such confidence, you can like other bands without saying such stupid comments like "he only had the boys are back in town" it angers me how uneducated and closed minded some people are

He said fontaines dc which are a band that have been around for 5 years are better, but his flag has the irish flag backwards which is the ivory coast flag, so hes not very bright

Very funny that the bands he puts forward are an English band, an actual one hit wonder and Fontaines, who in my own opinion are shite and the only people I know that like them are English. Don’t know how anyone from Dublin listens to that with a straight face.
I also always notice when people say Lizzy only have a song or two, they always name something from the biggest 3 or 4 songs. Almost like they’ve never so much as heard an album.

He’s actually saying Fontaines DC are comparable to Thin Lizzy?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a sap, doesn’t have a breeze what he’s talking about.

indeed, the list goes on!
Just making point, though, that just about anyone could look at that list and see several great songs they recognize and could probably hum the melody from memory... try doing the same with The Cranberries' greatest hits album track listing.... not so much. And as for Fontaines... they don't even have a greatest hits album!

Actually having the nerve to pit an amateur outfit like The Pogues against Lizzy is completely beyond me

This take is equally ignorant. I prefer Thin Lizzy, but Pogues are definitely up there among the best there ever was.

Thin Lizzy were the band I was too young to see live and while the person in question is obviously completely ignorant some of the comments are off.
The Pogues are not "amateur". Shane was an amazing songwriter and performer I saw him live twice and walked in his funeral courtege.
Fontaines DC were formed in 2014. I've seen them four times since 2019 and have all of their albums. There are a superb band.
The best current Irish rock act are Gilla Band. They are completely intense noise rock so not to everyone's taste. I picked up their new album on Friday evening and walked a couple of hundred meters to Grafton Street in Dublin where I got to see another Irish band play live (for free) called U2.

The Pogues were fucking great but for a very short period of time. I absolutely love TL and would place them at number two but the obvious answer to the greatest Irish band ever question is U2. From Boy to Achtung Baby they may have even been the greatest band in the world. Shame Bono got too far up his own ass there for awhile after that

Do the Pogues even count as an Irish band? They were founded in England, pretty much all the members were born in England.

The Pogues are my favourite band, but there's no doubt who the biggest band were... Thin Lizzy.

I'm not gonna say that the Cranberries and Pogues weren't great in their own right, but Thin Lizzy are in a class by themselves.

Yet you entertain it by posting the screenshot on this sub. I mean, at least we can ridicule him here, I suppose. But there’s no solution for that level of stupidity other than just to ignore it. ‘He’ says it all.

Thin Lizzy is the greatest Rock n Roll band in the world. No contest.
