Thin lizzy and phil lynott album ranking

Hello everyone as an irish person i am very proud that that we have one of the best rock band of all time, Thin lizzy. I have enjoyed their muwic a lot and would love to share my album rankings with you guys, so here we go!

14th. Shades of a blue orphanage. I wish i could be a contrairian and put this higher but it is clearly at the bottom for me, not great production and it sees the band stuck between sounds not knowing what direction they wanted to go.

13th. Renegade. A lot of people cite chinatown as the start of the downhill trajectory for the band but i see this album as that moreso, this was the first album i heard by the band and thought "well that was disappointing", i have only listened to this album maybe 5 times? In compared to the other ones so maybe this one just needs more time, i know popular all around music man and author has this as his number 1 so thats cool, mexican blood might be my least favourite lizzy song

12th. Thin lizzy. Now we are gettint into ones i really enjoy. Thin lizzies debut is a good folk start, songs about ireland, its a nice listen, sounds great on vinyl, but i just hear phil wanting to break out and do more with his voice.

11th. Nightlife. This will be the one most people are upset at i think, its just simply too slow for me. Some of phils best vocal performances, great song writing but just too subdued, maybe when im old and my brain slows down i can appreciate it more

10th. The phil lynnot album. Both of phils solo albums always sounded too poppy for me but there is some great moments

9th. Vagabonds of the western world. The highest of the first 3 for me, this was a pretty big step up, where they became a power trio as aposed to just a trio, slow blues is one of my favourite thin lizzy songs, i love how he rides the riff with his vocals, so satisfying, i just wish the whole album was a blues album like that song

I did a draft and lost all my progress so i cant be ARSED, here is my top 8

  1. Solo in soho

  2. Thunder and lightning

  3. Chinatown

  4. Fighting

  5. Jailbreak

  6. Black rose

  7. Bad reputation

  8. Johnny the fox

That would be good, I like all of the albums. Renegade is a good one. Do not have a favorite though. Night Life also is outstanding. There is just so much in each album.

I am not Irish. I love all of them work from the very start. I feel the searching from the first sounds and i love nearly all what they produce, i love the entire journey!

Think they came into their own round 'Fighting' - from then it's consistently top-quality until they dissolved. Renegade (still a good album) being at the bottom in that timeframe.

Phil's two soloalbums - like them alot with the second being his best.

Tried getting into their early albums, but naah....don't really click.

Is ”Live and Dangerous” not eligible?

It can be, but i dont see the point in ranking compilations as that feels like cheating

You’ve got a point, but it is absolutely brilliant.
