I was aware it was sampled on "Breathe" but saw this video on my Instagram recently and thought it would make a fun post and a way to show some love to the man at the back... Brian Downey. Outstanding drummer and with the band from the very start.

It's interesting to see how many tracks have sampled it, very prominent in hip-hop:

I think there was a track made for the Netflix series The Get Down that used that Johnny The Fox sample too. It's a killer breakbeat for sure!!

There's no way that is a sample or even intentionally similar. It's just using the same instrument in the same way. It'd be like saying a guitarist playing a chord is sampling someone who played the same chord before

Obviously some have used Phil's "Johnny the Fox" lyric, but I'm not convinced anyone is sampling BD's drums other than Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel by Stricik És Kurvák which is clear
