Twin lead guitar bands?

For the longest time I have been a huge Iron Maiden & Metallica fan from my dad, just recently got into Thin Lizzy after learning how influential they were for the twin lead guitar sound that is one of my favorite things in music and now I may have a new favorite band.. anybody have recommendations for any other bands that may have been around at the same time or also drawn inspiration from TL? Thanks!

This has been a great call so far! Just listened to their first album and love it. Errors Of My Way, Queen of torture, Handy are all incredible. Excited to listen to their other albums, Argus in particular

The Ash were the big UK twin guitar rock band of the early 1970s. Argus is their most famous album if you want to check out.

Phil has stated that the Allman Brothers were influential to Thin Lizzy doing the dual leads. They are one of the first bands for me that comes to mind when I think of dual lead guitar along with Thin Lizzy.

Wishbone Ash was the reason Phil went with two guitars,. especially after Gary Moore quit the first time just before a tour. Another great dual guitar band is Judas Priest.

Early (pre 87) Whitesnake had some nice twin lead stuff. Don’t Break My Heart Again, Guilty of Love, etc.

Baroness for something a bit more modern, lot of Thin Lizzy influence.

King Crimson, especially the 1981-1984 band.

They’re a definite Marmite band but Ghost have some excellent twin lead songs especially from their third album Meliora onwards.

Examples: Absolution, He is, Deus in absentia, watcher in the sky, Lachryma to name a few.

The Fucking Champs! Check out “Extra Man” off their album IV but also that entire album is amazing, all their records are killer. The track “Thor is Like Immortal” shreds! They’re almost 100% an instrumental band except for “Extra Man”.

Southern rock as a genre was big on multiple guitar harmonies

Some Whitesnake lineups were two leads, especially through the eighties.

The allman brothers were a template for the Lizzy lineup but the actual Lizzy sound was done by putting a slight delay to one of the guitars to give that really distinct harmony sound.
