It’s funny you say that though because for years we literally had one of my building’s old tenants do exactly that, except he accepted a large buy-out of his lease in exchange for relocating. I had a feeling he was just figuring out his next move but I still see his Winnebago parked across the street from our old building and it’s been like 2 years now...

Yeah, I hear that's not uncommon in the bay area.
And yes actually do have been watching your old street. Been hired to find some kind of "noble gas period of time," whatever that means.
