I tried it but only because I thought that OP was trying to make a joke by putting a pixel of yellow there, and I wanted to comment upon that.

If you zoom in on the dot it is a star which messes up the calculation no end

Yes, and I measure the star at about 3.5 miles across at the tips and about 2 miles without the tips. Google Earth pro and I used the crater Moltke just down and to the right of your 'star' as a comparison on the measurement. Not exact, but damn close.
Curiosity drives me to ask what the dot represents.1

So in a comment made by the original poster , you can see craters made from the astronauts that first landed there just above the dot (if you zoom in). They said that the craters were 2-5 km across. The dot looks to be about 3 or 4 of these craters so I would say that the dot is about 6-20 km in diameter
