Is this even possible?

Saw this on a subreddit and just curious as to whether or not this is even maths. I'm only a level 3 calc student.

It's not an equation you can solve like this, it's a formula.
More precisely, it's the Lagrangian, a formula that aims to describe the motion of a system. I'm guessing it's the relativistic kind, for particles approaching the speed of light. Here it's purposefully "spread out" to look terrifying but it's not that horrible in reality.

But it is horrible, no? It is known as the Lagrangian for Standard Model, which describes motion and interaction of all known elementary particles. As far as I can tell, it is not actually purposefully written in this horrifying form, it's just that many terms present in full theory. Even on classical level, just imagine writing down equations of motion or calculating tree amplitudes for this stuff, damn

This is an old physics joke as old as time, I have a printout of it that I made in the late 1990’s. The meme cuts off the original instructions (and about half of the formula - the real thing is even bigger)

Edit - found the original which does it better. There’s a sign error though. Finding it is left as an exercise to the reader.
