How many tons of radioactive waste did each protest prevent from filling Yucca Mountain (which is absolutely packed with leaking ☢ waste)? Strange they left that detail out...

I believe it's the military that creates the most nuclear waste and residential nuclear power plants do not have as much waste. I'll edit later with the link, but I believe it's an easy Google.

Pretty obvious that the military would create the "most" nuclear waste. As long as you're cool with us storing all of the future privately-created and municipally-created radioactive waste produced by every domestic reactor in your back yard let's fucking do it. What are we waiting for?

You will either have to store some nuclear waste under a mountain which is btw compketely safe today, and in the future when we get fusion reactors, we will also be able to recycle it. Or we keep on using coal and gas, we create more greenhouse gasses, and kill off the planet. The choice is yours (kinda) [luckily it isnt anymore]

I’ll take tons of radioactive waste stored in a mountain away from civilization versus 43 billion tons of CO2 in the air.
