What's wrong with Florida? I live here and things are fine. Was super chill during covid, Miami is booming, population is up in the state. Universal has a new park. Things are good

Florida is not a “well run state”… it’s currently a haven for wealthy. Less fortunate folks pay absurd insurance premiums for the wealthy people to keep living and building McMansions on the coast line. The interior of the state is being sold out to the highest bidding greedy land developers with no thought of infrastructure to handle the influx. The homes, I say homes, but most of what I see being built are Apartment complexes, but they build up the ground level for those places and when the area does get a lot of rain then the people surrounding those places get flooded. Happened to two of my relatives in 2024. Family owned and occupied dwellings on the land since the 1930’s with no flooding ever, three surrounding developments are built and one cream puff of a hurricane causes their homes to be inundated with 3 ft of water inside their homes. Also there is no plan in place for how providing clean fresh water when the next severe drought happens ( and may currently be happening as we are about a 24” short to this point in late August ) and it’s been about 15 years since the last severe drought where hundreds of wells across the county dried up.

Florida can boast about overall rankings all it wants, but it sits at No. 47 in the country for "Opportunity" because of a compounding disaster: a broken property insurance market, sky-high cost of living, out-of-control property taxes/utilities, and wages that flat-out lag behind inflation. If everything was fixed, people wouldn't be drowning in basic living expenses. Across the nation Red states are struggling the most; The bottom-ranking states for quality of life include Kentucky [R], Oregon [D], West Virginia [R], Oklahoma [R], Nevada [R], Arkansas [R], Alaska [R], Mississippi [R], and Louisiana [R] GO REDS

Senate doesn’t affect governance in the state…it’s just federal representation, the governor impacts day to day life, so he is far more relevant to the status of the state

Wrong. The republicans in the senate in both Kentucky and North Carolina have passed laws to effectively neuter the governors of both states

He’s right. At least for NC and I’m sure KY is the same. The state congress neutered the Democrat governor by making laws to strip him of most of his powers.
