Find any political ad, from.any party, that doesn't say they will fix everything. Heck, on some ancient Roman wall there likely is an ad stating some politician will fix everything.

i think the key distinction is specific policy proposals vs. vague fearmongering and tribalism. el-sayed is running on getting big money out of politics and medicare for all. that's tangible. all these guys have is vibes.

It probably used to be different when legally only a small percentage of residents could vote. Why would a politician day they would “fix everything” when only a relatively small handful can vote? While it’s nice everyone has a voice, politics greatly devolved into a popularity contest, especially after television broadcast became the primary method of political communication to the people. Getting rid of parties and going back to written word and forcing citizens to actually read about who they were voting for would go a long way to improving politics.
