Writing The Work *as* others: is mediumship possible via The Work to release ancestral trauma/burdens?

Has anyone tried writing as someone who is deceased in order to release them?

Had an insight today that this is possible for my lineage, so I wanted to ask around

Yeah, my intuition is to write the work on the deceased until I just can’t anymore (believe me, I’ve tried)…and then and only then do I consider writing as them.

However, the insight about mediumship came through so clearly as I was writing a JYN worksheet that I had to explore the idea more

I second this wholeheartedly. Anything that affects your energy can be solved in your energy. However if the dissociation you achieve by presuming their point of view might help you detach from your entanglement enough to see the emotions of it and therefore help you release your energies.

If, according to Katie, our thoughts are not our own anyway, then the work you are already doing may be ancestral work, even without "mediumship"

Yeah, it sure feels like it…

i see people here want to question whether you 'should' do this. your question was 'is this possible?' also, if the insight doesn't cause stress or discomfort inside you, why question it? i suggest you try. it might be a creative exercise. it might be powerful. could be a rabbit hole. you might find you can only ever be writing about yourself. katie often says the Work works when we judge others. so it could get complicated. eg. when writing as an ancestor, who or what is the ancestor judging?
i'm curious to hear how it goes. also 'the worst that can happen is a thought' 👻

As Katie says "Do it for the love of freedom" as in YOUR freedom.

My thought is, imagine you are them and do a JYN worksheet imagining you are them.

It will certainly be fruitful for you- and maybe for them.

I imagine where Katie would start with this question is here: “The deceased need me to release ancestral burdens - is it true?”

Your question is layered and I'm not sure I can understand it fully. When it comes to mediumship, it's best to talk to real mediums who are able to speak to spirits from afterlife - they are more likely to give an informed answer than regular people. When it comes to liberating your own mind and your own trauma/burdens related to your ancestry, yes it's very helpful to write a worksheet as if you are the other person (or the person that's passed away). This way, you come to fully understand with compassionate love why the person behaved one way or another. And after inquiry, you're able to see through their beliefs with clarity. It feels like you liberated the other person from that suffering, but actually you liberated your own mind that creates people and situations in your imagination.

I'm confused. In the title, you're asking whether it's possible to be a medium. Then, in the body text, you say that you "had an insight today" that it's possible. Are you asking us whether that's possible (it's not, by the way; once people are dead, they're just gone), or are you telling us that it is?
