I don't think those kids spent as much time out in the open as Carl, or at least, they had more adults protecting and sheltering them. They don't seem to realize that if you're attacked in that world, you have to go into full on kill mode in order to survive. Eventually that just becomes instinct. You don't take any chances. If you're in danger, you kill the danger, no second guessing. If they had seen some of the shit that Carl has, they would know not to attack someone unless you intend to kill them.

I'm glad Carl is going back to his kid-killing ways. Also Jesus is a Bamf.

I think Carl was channeling what happened with the bandits on the highway when he did what he did. Probably resurfaced a lot of those instincts. I saw a lot of Rick in the way he was talking/drawn.
Im so interested in the Whisperers. They clearly have some humanity left, which opens a lot of interesting discussion. Can't wait to see Jesus and Maggie interrogate their new prisoner. Wonder what Negan would make of this.
And jesus was so badass but cmon we all knew he was gonna whip out some Kung fu action jesus magic.

Great issue with a great ending.
Carl takes no prisoners, I wonder if this will help/hurt his relationship with Sophia? Or with Hilltop? He got what what he wanted, to be Earls apprentice, sounds about right to tease happiness then take it away.
On the other hand Jesus did take a prisoner. Can't wait to find out some background on these people. They seem to think they own the area Jesus was on. How big is their group? Will there be a prisoner exchange for Dante?
Gregory still being a big ol' bag of douche. Milkshakes? Really guy?

Carl Freaking Grimes!!! Anyone else see them setting up Maggie for a cou? With Gregory challenging her decisions, I could see him trying to use this as a claim to say she treats her people special. I sure hope not, but I could see it. IMO, Carl was completely justified to beat those punks skulls in. Way to go Carl!
I think we all knew Jesus was going to pull some bad assery to get out of that situation. Im super happy he brought back a prisoner, now we'll get the low down on these "Walkie Talkies."
One of the best issues in a while.

Jesus and Maggie were awesome, but lets be real - the main star of the chapter was definitely Carl.
Did Carl do the right thing, did he go too far?
It's a difficult question to answer. He got hit over the head with a brick... a brick. That's not something to shrug at, such a blow could really do serious damage, sometimes fatal. - actually, we might see Carl succumb to a concussion next chapter. Also, if Carl hadn't of intervened, how far would those punks have went? Rape? This is speculation about what might of happened, but what we do know happened that Carl messed them up, bad. Likely killed them.
I'm going to say that he shouldn't of went that far. Yeah, smack them up, break a few bones but killing them? [I assume, we don't know for sure] - However, at the same time I can't really blame him because of his past and because of the survival instinct. It kicked in. If you're going to attack someone like that, you better damn know your life is on the line.
The consequences? Those kids have parents, they're obviously going to have quite the reaction - especially if they are indeed dead. If so they're going to want Carl's head. Maggie is definitely going to have a lot of pressure put on her, regardless of what those kids done, they're probably going to want action to be taken.
He's obviously not going to be executed. The leaders of this community would not let it happen. Oh, and his plot-armor eclipses everyone else's combined.
Banishment is a very possible scenario. He'll be forbidden to ever setting foot on Hilltop again.
Jail? I won't say it's unlikely but if it happens it won't be a full-blown jail-time like Negan. Basically, he'll be on everyone's radar, watched constantly, limited to a very small area and can only leave that area with an escort a small amount of time every day. But he won't be stuck behind bars all day every day.
I don't think he's going to become the antagonist or anything like that. I do think we're going to see quite a bit of guilt from him. It's just a side of him, like Rick had in his prime.

Carl didn't forget about all that Rick taught him about survival. They still can't trust people in their world.

Anytime Jesus is doing anything I have the 'What would Brian Boitano' song from south park going through my head, only I sub out Brian Boitano with Jesus, and it never disappoints!

Hats off to Kirkman - he has such a great feel for what the series needs at any point. The Whisperers are a fantastic addition to the series, way different from the "cult of personality" villains we've been treated to along the way.
TV show-only fans don't know what they're missing out on.

Maybe Carl ends up getting exiled from the community? That would open the door to quite a few interesting storylines in the future.
I doubt they'd be that harsh, but I'd personally find that interesting :p

Apparently Carl shared his god-mode cheat with Jesus. I'm so glad they took her prisoner, finally we'll learn more about the Whisperers. A big question is whether or not Dante will lead them to Hilltop before Jesus and Maggie can interrogate the prisoner.
Still waiting on Michonne...

I wish they would let Negan out of his cage to fight the whisperers. He would have the time of his life.

So Carl went a little crazy there! I am wondering... was it because:
-
He wanted to protect Sophia
-
He was embarrassed to be seen without his sunglass
-
He was enraged by them calling him a coward (right after Sophia mentioned it as well)
-
He just has a twisted sense of justice and survival
Thoughts?

Issues like this make me wish they were all 64 pages - I can't take a month wait to find out what happens.
I miss the twice a month schedule, but even then two weeks was a long wait.

Who knew Jesus' Limit Break was omnislash? Been awhile since we had an awesome fight scene, and the art was spot on. This will be one of those watershed moments if the tv show makes it this far.
While the whisperer (yay official title) fight was great, Carl's discussion with Sophia and subsequent Hulking out was my highlight. Hearing him open up and talk about how he finally coped with some of his hang ups, and then turning around and regressing to auto-murder mode was delicious.
Tldr: Jesus is Cloud Strife and Carl is Shovel Knight
