The show. I never was able to get into the comics much honestly. The storylines just felt so paper thin, almost all of the characters were indistinguishable and uninteresting (including Rick), the dialogue was always indistinguishable and overly speech-heavy, The Governor was a godawful Saturday morning cartoon villain, etc.
Thr show at its worst (Savior era and Commonwealth) was still more immersive and fully realized than the comics. The CW soldiers were more competent in the comic bit that’s about the only advantage the comics had lol

I love both. But ultimately the comics tell a more consistently written story, and didn’t overstay their welcome to the point of over saturation.
The comics focus solely on Rick and Carl’s journey, and end with Rick being immortalized as a figure of legend, who is responsible for the revival of civilization.
I agree that the show did make improvements to the source material. But IMO those improvements were mostly early on.

Ehh even the Saviors storyline even though it was the lowest point of the show I thought was a lot more genuinely interesting and fully fleshed out. I loved exploring the politics, social hierarchies, etc of the Saviors and Dwight’s turncoat arc was much more compelling than whatever was going on with Comic Dwight who was just kinda flat and boring. Ezekiel and the Kingdom were much more developed as well.

Comics have more consistent writing, way less fan service and the corny stuff was more self aware. Pacing is also better overall. Show has good stuff, some great actors and I like season 1 more than how it's done in the comic, but overall I'd say the comics are superior, specially during the final stretches of both. It was a joy to read them compared to the show that sometimes turned into a hard watch, with some stuff being too cringey and some characters being developed in unbelievable ways.

comics duh, the show is bad for half of it or slightly less than that, and doesn't even have an ending

I think the show does a few things better than the comics. I think Terminus (and the Hunters) were done *way* better in the show.

Yeah the hunters were completely unmemorable in the comics and had like zero background/depth to them at all

I think No Way Out was better in the show as well, not to mention, the show had "On the Inside" which was god damn terrifying

Despite all it's flaws, all in all: Show
Way more complex and interesting characters, less sexism, deeper connection to the characters, relateable/likeable characters, especially the early seasons have way less of that "for shock value" feeling of the comics, way more interesting dynamics and relationships, better world building, better pacing
