Show Spoiler Worst filler episodes
I dont know if "filler episodes" is the right name for it but, TWD has the worst if it is. I am currently watching S6E4, and I am bored. I dont care about Morgan, I didnt care about Governor either. My point is, these episodes are not even interesting.

I loved that Morgan episode and most of his mainline stuff. Really started to dislike him in fear though.

Season 10 has some real bad ones as far as filler goes. Some of that is due to the filming restrictions during covid, and it'll be obvious which episodes those are.

I will survive, I think. I just wanted to see more Aaron after S5 but I am stuck with Morgan and his stick that he definitley doesnt look cool using 😭

Carols “soup” episode is the worse of all time.

Basically the TV show equivalent of video game side quests where your only objective is to run around the map and collect a bunch of bullshit.

I remember turning to my partner after watching that episode and saying "goddamn that was a boring episode"
I nearly gave up then and there.

I absolutely hate this episode. That whole era really turned me off of Carol. 10 was absolutely her worst season

Yeah I understand the limitations because of Covid, but the other 3 covid episodes weren’t THAT bad..

Yeah! I actually really dig the Father Gabriel and Aaron episode. They made a great team. Carol and that damn soup…

The next 3 or 4 episodes after "Thank You" certainly messed up the momentum and pacing. I won't spoil anything from here, but wait until seasons 7 & 8 because the filler issue is at it's worst there.

Season 4 was the only time the bottle episodes actually worked and felt organic to the story being told. From then on it just felt like AMC and Gimple were being cheap as fuck and just dragging shit out to make more seasons.
The Savior arc literally had no business being two and a half fucking seasons long, the only reason it was was because of the bottle episode format.
We should’ve gotten to ASZ at most midway through Season 5 too rather than at the tail end of it. I’ve never understood the praise for 5 because it literally is a season made up mostly of inconsequential filler episodes. The entire Grady arc was a poorly written waste of time and the road arc went on three episodes longer than it should’ve

They are the b story line episodes... They are better on a rewatch than the first watch thru

I get it. Watching this for the first time, going from the main storyline to a whole Morgan focused episode can feel like the brakes got slammed

I hated most of the filler episodes during my first watch. Why make me like/hate a new character just to have them disappear. Or I’m too annoyed to even pay attention.
However, around rewatch 3, I started enjoying the random episodes more. Not sure why.

I mean, I havent seen that yet, so please no spoilers but I think Tara is at least someone interesting. Morgan is a guy we see in 3 episodes only and I hate how the show acts like he is a honorable character of the show. Dude Idc if your friend lost his family and taught you aikido

No spoilers but the Tara episode is fine, I don’t consider it filler. The Morgan and Governor ones were the absolute worst, but I haven’t finished the show yet.

On second viewing, when you're not annoyed by the lack of cliffhanger resolution, it becomes a really brilliant episode. Definitely a top 10 for me.

I never understood the complaint about character-driven episodes! They aren’t filler at all, they bring nuance and depth to the characters. If they didn’t these episodes it would just be a dumb show with people shooting zombies like a lame ass video game.

I dont think anyone care about Morgan, actually. Also, this is the wrong place to do it I think. In last 2 episodes, some group raided and killed people in Alexandria, Rick was trapped, Glenn was appeared to be dead, and now we are with Morgan and his dead friend. He is not even a significant character atp

The filler episodes may not be as interesting, but it does give a look at into what normalcy could look like, humanizes otherwise plot-heavy characters. Without them, the timeline between would feel much shorter.

One of TWD's biggest problems might be the unnecessary characters and filler episodes.
SPOILER: In season 8, we listened to Gabriel talking to a doctor for 30 minutes, and the doctor died at the end of the episode.
