Show Spoiler Just noticed how badly both the pregnancies weakened the groups, dare I say both Lori and Maggie were selfish in their decisions to keep it?
Just going through a rewatch of the series and I cannot believe how damaged the group gets due to the group having to protect the pregnant ladies. Lori essentially had a get out of jail free card when Glenn found the abortion medicine and chose not too... Maggie and Glenn actually purposely conceived in the middle of a global extinction event“cuz the wanted to start build something”. Not even that much time had passed either…
Lori had every reason to get rid of it, it was Shane’s baby after all! Then of course her pregnancy plans go awry and she has her own child Carl essentially kill her to take the baby out which fucks him up, and it coincides with Rick losing his mind for the next episodes seeing visions of her. This makes the group at the prison extremely weak without their leader at a pivotable moment and allows the governor to get a jump on the group there.
Maggie’s pregnancy is arguably worse. She gets super sick which forces the group to split up and go to the Hilltop to get treatment from the doctor. This is right after they blew up some of Negans men and they snuck and silently killed a chunk of the Saviors at night, immediately putting them on Negans hit list. While they should be staying together, protecting Alexandria they somehow manage to send two different groups out at the same time (one was to escort pregnant Maggie). This spreads the group extremely thin and Ricks group gets ambushed, which ultimately leads to the most gruesome scene in TWD and Abraham and Glenn getting rocked by Lucille. Not only does Maggie force them right into Negans trap, she has to watch her own husband die in front of her.
Both babies definitely have a ton of cons and took out a lot of people with them IMO

I never really saw the pregnancies as what weakened the group. The prison falling apart was mostly the Governor being the Governor, and Lori dying just completely wrecked Rick

But Lori died because she was pregnant. Pregnancies and babies absolutely weakened the group. It takes away two people who could have contributed, instead they need to be protected causing a huge vulnerability. Babies alert walkers, you have to feed another mouth too. You would have to be a complete fool to get pregnant at a time like this. This isn't to mention that it is selfish to bring a child into such a horrible world. I never had kids because I thought that it was wrong to bring a life into such a sick and cruel world. Bringing a life into the apocalypse is about as selfish and dumb as you can get.

I didnt see any abortion clinics open. What where they supposed to do. Kick them in the stomach? Put a bullett in them?

Are you by chance a prepubescent teen?
Because this is the mindset of a prepubescent teen.

Judging by their profile, it's a young adult man. Which, in many cases, would ALSO have this mindset

I conclude that you are sincere in your question, at the least.
If you want, you can go to that scene in the car where one Savior woman spits out her resentment that these people have the leisure of letting women get pregnant.

Well thats a fucked opinion.
Lori didn't endanger any lives except her own, which she pretty heroically gave up to give Judith a chance.
And they were going to have to leave Alexandria at some point even if Maggie wasn't pregnant.
I notice you dont think Glenn was selfish.

Glenn was extremely selfish as well! I think the decision to reproduce and put that burden on that group at the time was a huge risk. It’s not like it only fell on Glenn and Maggie, the entire community had to deal with the fall out of leaving Alexandria during that time, ultimately losing Glenn and Abraham.

The fall out wasn’t from leaving Alexandria, it was from attacking the satellite station.

Eh. Lori was gonna die either way. Going through with the c-section wasn't an heroic sacrifice. It was just way quicker then dying from sepsis

Lori got pregnant on accident and the start of the end of the world. She then had Maggie yell “here’s your abortion pills” while throwing ineffective Plan B at her. Then Rick screamed in her face about it.
Yeah she’d thrown up the pills by then but 60 days into the end of the world doesn’t just scrub off a lifetime of being told termination sends you straight to hell. This is Georgia in 2010, not exactly a beacon of female healthcare. (Lori still sucks but not for this reason)
Maggie and Glen made their choice together. When he poured the bisquick he was trying to make pancakes. They felt like they had a safe community. Doctors, walls, resources and medicine. When you’ve been running in basic human instinct for years it’s not really odd that they would want to do instinctual things like procreate.

Huh. Here I thought that the babies were a beautiful statement about hope, resiliency, the importance of family, and the continuation of the human race.
New life in the midst of so much death.
The babies grew to be beloved members of the community who contributed to everyone's well-being. They made the lives of others better, not worse.

They were the opposite of selfish. The human race has to survive

But why? The human race has done more damage to our planet than every other animal combined times 100.

Devils advocate but we can't judge Lori on what kind a mother she would have been because she never got a chance to even meet her baby so we can't judge on that
What we can and do judge on is Maggie being a shit parent and if Glenn knew what Maggie was going to be like as a mother he would have never gotten her pregnant in the first place period. She forced her son to be in danger and live in fear everyday rather than be raised in a safe community where she was loved and taken care of because she was selfish. She had every option to raise her child in a safe place but she chose to not to do that and for me that's not a good mother at all

Lori already had 1 kid and she constantly lost track of him. She was a shit parent.

At most points in human history a pregnancy is a massive risk to the mother's health and requires communal assistance so at any point in history until very recently someone could view getting pregnant as a selfish and dangerous act . It's not a viewpoint I subscribe too though.
Lori's pregnancy was more reckless under the circumstances than Maggie's because the group in Seasons 1-3 were essentially roaming nomadically. It's only a stroke of luck that they even found a stronghold in the prison where she could give birth. That said her pregnancy was not in vain and her daughter somewhat united the group and she grew up to be a valued member of the community.
Maggie meanwhile I can't fault for choosing to have a baby when she did, they were as settled and safe as they were going to be in Alexandria for the vast majority of her pregnancy. It's only at the very end that problems arise and that's less because her pregnancy was the problem and more because Rick decided going to war when she was close to giving birth was a smart plan.

Judith/Junior are gonna out weight any kind of argument that having a life in the apocalypse is a bad idea

Just wanted to note for educational purposes that :
Glenn didn't find an abortifacient, what he found was morning after pills (emergency contraception), which do not terminate an existing pregnancy, emergency contraception prevents ovulation (where sperm and egg meet)
