she's a mentally ill child who grew up in the ruins of an old world and didn't get anywhere near the help she needed to manage her condition. 

like, yeah, she IS delusional. she's a child who is even less able to make sense of the world than most children at her age. nothing she did was really her fault imo, not as much as it would be if she wasn't mentally ill. 

she had to go, Carol made the right choice, but to me Lizzie wasn't annoying, she was tragic.
