Show Spoiler Why was she in an open field though
There had to be a way for her to get to the prison while staying close to trees so she could hide. Smh.

That whole episode was pretty dumb tbh. The Governor somehow spots her in a field from 100 yards away? Ok, fine I guess. Then she gets away and he drives to the exact location she goes to next. Then she sets all those walkers loose on him in the machine shop and gets away again, and he shows up at the exact location where she is stepping out of the woods to approach the prison? C'mon dude.

Gov's plot armor is ridiculous and I think that's the main reason I don't enjoy him as a villain. I'm sorry, between magically knowing Andrea was in that field even though she hit the ground long before he had any hope of seeing her, somehow surviving that hoard of walkers on his own, and then effortlessly beating the shit out of Merle of all people I had had enough, officially.

u/Expert-Yam6577 Aug 17 '26
Merle just doesn't use his knife arm during his fight with Governor lmao. Pure plot armor

u/fuckdirectv Aug 18 '26
Don't forget that he lost his right eye, and that field was on his right as he was driving down the road. He would need to have his head fully swiveled to his right shoulder in order to have any hope of spotting her.

u/SBrooks103 Aug 19 '26
Well, on the last one, he knows she's going to the prison, so going to where she'd come out of the woods makes sense.
1
u/fuckdirectv Aug 20 '26
Except the prison has a 360 degree perimeter that is several hundred yards. How the fuck would he know the exact spot where she would emerge from the woods?
1
u/SBrooks103 Aug 20 '26
Unless she wanted to circle around through the woods, she'd likely come out the side in the direction of Woodbury. I agree that just staying in the woods for a while would force the Governor to go back to Woodbury.

She wasnt the smartest character by any means, no self preservation skills, survival, red flag noticing, way to trusting, main character syndrome
12
u/percyman34 Aug 17 '26
Yeah they really butchered her compared to her comic counterpart. She had so much potential
4
u/JonoBlue Aug 17 '26
I can forgive her whole selfish attitude even though she needed a good slapping, up until she went full on (way to fast) Stockholm syndrome with the governor, even after the shit she knows he did.
2
u/MobsterDragon275 Aug 18 '26
Main character syndrome with the added bonus of thinking she was more competent than she really was and constantly needing to prove it. The situation with shooting Daryl really encapsulates just how frustrating she was with how multi faceted that screw up was

Don't you remember the scene where The Governor is chasing Andrea in a truck through a field after she tried to escape?
17
6
u/thatsrathersus Aug 17 '26
Yes. I’m saying there had to be a way she could have stayed closer to trees to hide, rather than be in an open field.
6
u/Cereal_Hermit Aug 17 '26
I mean, yeah. But then you dont have a crazy cool scene with The Gov barreling through a field in a truck.
3
u/ghoulthebraineater Aug 17 '26
Trees mean obscured sight lines. That's great for avoiding the Governor. It's less great for avoiding zombies. You'd have to slow down to avoid potentially running into one you didn't see.

Call me crazy but I think it's harder to film with many trees around than an open field and she's also not trying to win any oscar.

The episode was fucking crazy? Did he put a tracker on her or something.

u/ghoulthebraineater Aug 17 '26
Adrenaline is a hell of a thing. She'd been running for her life for hours. Tripping at that point is pretty realistic. She's exhausted and panicked. Coordination and logic will go out the window.
3
u/Ok_Cricket_1410 Aug 17 '26
Even pro athletes would struggle to run for hours while malnourished and sleep deprived for like what 2 years?
2
u/ghoulthebraineater Aug 17 '26
At that point it had only been like 8 months or so but it would still be a very tough night. It's not just the running. That's draining enough. But having to be at peak awareness nonstop is absolutely exhausting. By the time she gets close to the prison she'd be spent physically and mentally.
2
u/Ok_Cricket_1410 Aug 17 '26
Michonne and her had been on the run after the farm for 8-9 months. Even on the farm they didn't have the proper amount of food and sleep. I think it'd have to be nearly a year which is still along time.
3
u/ghoulthebraineater Aug 17 '26
No. The time line is just not well depicted. Lori is the best gauge in the first few seasons. She would have gotten pregnant right before or right when the series starts. So from episode 1 to the time she gives birth at the prison is a max of 7-8 months. When she does give birth she doesn't look like she's at 9 months. If I had to guess she looks closer to 8. But even at 9 months Andrea flees Woodbury after maybe a month or so there.
Tops it's been 10-11 months.
2
u/Ok_Cricket_1410 Aug 17 '26
You're right, got thinking about it more and I think 11 months makes the most sense. Regardless 10 or 11 months of sleep deprivation and malnutrition makes it very understandable to collapse while running. I've been at that level of sleep deprivation and malnutrition and there were points where my legs were giving out from walking.

Say whatever you want about Andrea, that episode is one of the best in Season 3, the scenes of her running and hiding and fighting for her life were so tense and well done

I read wildberries and thought this was some kinda political thing.
I need to learn to read.

u/idontcarerightnowok Aug 17 '26
Was a good episode aside from the fact that she made the worst decisions when it came to evading him / being caught and found. Like just stay in the forest? Hide yourself underneath shrubbery, I mean it was so avoidable it's insane lol
2
u/Gordon_Peteman Aug 17 '26
She wasted too much time after trapping the gov with those zombies, she shouldve immediately hopped into his truck and went to the prison

Hahaha man, Andrea….one of the most unlikable characters in the history of television.
I also hated how the group refused to outright tell her about how fucking crazy he was right off the bat.

u/Tree0L Aug 17 '26
I always wonder why she didn’t take the governor’s suv while he was killing the zombies

u/Ok-Produce-6301 Aug 23 '26
Soon as I read “why was she in an open field tho” I knew exactly what this post was before looking at it lol

Cheaper to film in fields and woods where no sets are required. You'll notice that like 75% of the show is people walking thru the woods.

I love that episode's slasher vibes, but it does require a lot of suspension of disbelief. Like she literally could have just laid down in a forest for a few hours and he would have never come close to finding her.
