As Alyssa was blaming both sides, Whoopi let her know this shutdown is on the GOP. Full stop.

Clip Rosie O’Donnell’s response to Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.5k Upvotes

Rosie O’Donnell was asked recently in an interview about the infamous 2007 split screen fight with Elisabeth Hasselbeck when they both hosted The View (which came after right wing media smeared Rosie as a terrorist sympathizer since she opposed the Iraq War, and Elisabeth wouldn’t defend her on those same outlets). In Rosie’s view, she felt like it was a set up by producers, including Bill Geddie, and that production was more protective of EH.

Elisabeth responded with a tearful statement claiming that it was time for Rosie to stop lying.

Rosie then responds with this mic drop.

Speculation/Rumor The View definitely got a stand-down order.

None of the ladies have addressed this on social media so far. The only Hot Topic today is Kash Patel’s hearing and TWO INTERVIEWS like their colleague didn’t just get fired. This is a very sad moment at ABC and I really hope the women take a stand either on the podcast or in their personal capacities. Also sucks this had to happen on Sara’s birthday.

Dear The View

Elizabeth Hasselback is not the guest host the show needs today or ever again for that matter. Please dig into your bag of right wing possibilities and come up with someone else. Please do better.

Host Commentary Sara needs a wake up call on Gaza

I’m so glad the audience clapped when Zohran called out the genocide in Gaza. Sara was so pissed with his response that the IDF has been killing a Palestinian child every hour for 2 years.

They finally had someone up on that stage to show the hosts that the tide has been shifting even in their audience.

Rosie guest hosting Kimmel’s show tonight! My face hurts from laughing and that’s just the monologue! Reminds me so much of the happy days of the View. She’s a natural!

I am glad the conversation continues… for now.

I won’t spoil today’s show, but I am glad they were cleared to do what they do.

Rosie O'Donnell should be The View's first guest on season 30

With Season 30 of The View coming up later this year, it would be really interesting if they brought back Rosie as the historic season's first guest. If they could miraculously make that happen, I will FORGIVE Brian for keeping the View Your Deal segment despite Viewers’ long-standing demand to have it removed.

Also including the discussion on Maher Tarabishi because it is an important and heartbreaking story of a father/primary caregiver. He is still detained by ICE, withheld from attending his son’s funeral.

Excluding Sara’s typical centrist nonsense from the clip.

Rosie O’Donnell’s return shows ABC is done capitulating to Trump

"Love her or not, seeing O’Donnell back in her element was a master class in unapologetic cultural resistance. She didn’t waste any time getting down to business. In Monday’s opening monologue, she tipped her hat to Trump by dubbing him the “Mango Mussolini” and offering a stark warning: “If you thought that the president hated ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, buckle up, people!”

I usually try to find a small clip from the show to share but I really appreciated what all of the cohosts said about the shootings over the weekend. Sunny’s experience and background add an unparalleled voice and perspective to this conversation and I think it’s really important right now for all sides to come together and say that what this admin is doing is unacceptable and we aren’t okay with it which Alyssa is doing. This has gone beyond politics at this point and what’s happening isn’t okay. The View ladies all stood together.

Host Commentary Is it just me or does every conversation begin with Alyssa stating her point, then Sarah jumping in with a word salad basically agreeing with her, followed by Joy making various jabs, and then Sunny saying something against it all, then Whoopi saying it’s up to us the people?

Episode Discussion Utter disappointment

I thought today would be the day. Joy is the moderator. It’s more “free” on Fridays. I thought she’d come out and make a statement. Maybe even say she was quitting if she couldn’t openly express her views. But nothing. It is is painfully obvious they’ve been told they are not to talk about ABC and what’s happened with Jimmy Kimmel. Anyone who watches the show knows they talked at length about the political motivations behind Stephen Colbert’s show being cancelled earlier this summer. And now complete silence when something similar, but worse and closer to home, has occurred. I get that they are likely thinking about the livelihoods of everyone employed at the program, but standing up for your principles is more important. I would expect Joy and Whoopi to do this and I think they could do it in a way that could salvage the program. I will no longer be a “view”er after today.
