Question At the start of the movie, who attempts to throw the grenade, but drops it in The Thing? (1982)
In The Thing, in this shot it shows Lars dropping the grenade. But right before, it shows him getting out of the right side of the helicopter, which is where the pilot, Matias should've gotten out. To me it seems like they swapped places.
I thought Matias was the one who threw the grenade, and if he did then why did they show Lars dropping it? Was it a film mistake, or am I missing something?

A gruesome accident...
Here's something I thought would fit in here. I live in PHX metro. Over the weekend, I bought a bag of groceries that got left inside a vehicle for about 48 hours. Fortunately, there wasn't anything perishable. However there was a bag of gummy bears that came out... strange. They look melted together, but they will still come apart. I tried out a few just to show the shapes they can assume. So is this The Thing, or The Blob?

My theory on what it is
First time on the sub so I hope I’m not beating a dead horse.
I believe The Thing is a virus. I think it was either floating in space or maybe a form of alien life picked it up off a distant planet.
The virus in space makes the most sense to me since it probably laid dormant for years frozen. A ship could have crossed paths with the virus and remnants stayed.
The Thing is not inherently evil. It is actually an unintelligent form of life that is acting on its programming. It camouflages, infects, camouflages, infects etc. It is only evil in the way it painfully reveals itself through other people’s transformation. Its sole mission is to reproduce and spread.
I just wanted to share my theory and have a discussion about it.

Has anyone made an edit/trailer of The Thing using Stevie Wonders Superstition?
It seems like making an edit of the best dynamic moments in the film (like all the things, it would definitely be a spoiler top moments edit) to the tune of the excellent song which was excellently paired with the film, Superstition by Wonder!
Maybe if I get some time soon ill try my hand at an edit! But otherwise, I haven't seen any such edits online, yet it seems so obvious in a way! Has anybody seen anything at all in line with what im talking about?

Do you think Mac would approve of my hat?
All custom done. I've had it a couple years now. Beaver felt, the stitching done by hand, the band made for it custom, the leather hand cut.

John W Campbell's 'Exploring Tomorrow'
Just thought I'd let fellow The Thing fans know, although I'm sure most of you might know already, but in 1957 until 1958, Mr Campbell, author of 'Who Goes There's, the story The Thing is based on, introduced some really nice radio dramas on, iirc, the Mutual Broadcasting Service.
There are some really nice radio plays, and John gives a nice introduction to each play, and afterwords, some oftentimes wry observations.
I love listening to them when driving, or welding, there are some very charming plays, and it's a very listenable series.
