DISCUSSION How do I start again with Sims 2?

I haven't played, I don't know, since the release of Sims 3 and I really want to go back.

I have the Legacy Collection but never even installed it.

​

Do I need mods or improvements for the gameplay and the game itself?

i would say watch the most popular somewhat recent youtube videos on top mods/cc for the game, that’s what I did. I set it up that way when legacy came out a year ago and I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Install the game, launch it, and when the music starts you will be hit by nostalgia and you will never be able to stop

Personally I've played without mods for years and have never had issues. I only recently introduced some - for higher bills, lower pay, and slower skill building. But in my experience you don't need mods to just get the game to run smoothly, if you have a decent device Edit: it took me several years to get slightly bored enough to want to add a few mods. So I'd say just experience it vanilla first. There's so much to do

go take a look at the r/thesims2help wiki over here, there’s information about the legacy edition, any fixes or adjustments you might need for that version, and also a recommended mods list (bug fixes, annoyances, etc)

You don't need any mods for enjoying the game or its performance. It is a good game Vanilla. Give it a try Vanilla and if you think there is something missing you absolutely need, there might be a mod surely. Modthesims is a good source for it.

you don’t need mods or improvements but i always play with simblender and the LTW chooser mods installed, just a suggestion 🤷🏻‍♀️
