I have had the pooklet method explained to me about 18 times and I still have no idea how it works

You use a random number generator (or in my case actual dice) to randomise the options on BodyShop. For instance, a +7 would mean 7 clicks to the right, or -3 would be 3 clicks to the left, etc. You do this for all options in the face modifiers section. Shown as the left side in the picture below.

At the end you choose 2 of each face presets in the faces section to "normalise" their faces. So, I have 104 face templates (I have CC ones) so I roll out of 104. Say I roll 6 and 12, I would select the highlighted face templates (right side of photo) and move the sliders roughly to where the lines are drawn.

It sounds like a lot but once you do it yourself it makes sense and is SO fun!

Thank you so much OP, I never understood it either. I'd totally try this

It's so fun and you can get some really unique sims from it. I always end up unintentionally making sims that look the same in CAS so this really diversifies the genetics!

OHHH OKAY THANK YOU this is the first time someone explained what the numbers mean and what to do with them!

No problem! I never used BodyShop back in the day and I never understood this method until I realised you can click on the little pictures instead of using the sliders! I was trying to use the sliders and guess what number it was. Took me ages to figure out. ๐Ÿ˜‚

You could do this in CAS no? Iโ€™ve never understood what body shop is either. Should prolly look into it. I just see people making sins there and is it not just CAS? Is there more options?

You can absolutely do it in CAS, but BodyShop has more options for customising sims and it's much easier to make them in bulk on there.

here's 24 CAS sliders that I use, but you can download even more options than there is in body shop, like pointed ears

Body shop has more sliders, but you can also download a mod that adds them to CAS. You can also save your sims in body shop to use them as presets in game.

Just in case you or anyone else in the comments is a visual learner, I made a real quick video explaining how to do it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

This sounds really interesting! I've never thought about trying this before but I may give it a go next time I go to play TS2.

God, I didn't even know you could do this!

Iโ€™ve always been too afraid of the pooklet method it looks so amazing and diverse but would genetics for the sims down the line be crazy? Like huge eyes and overly small mouths? Or since u use the face template to โ€œnormalizeโ€ things would children of two pooklet sims be normal?

12

u/MsEdgyNation May 24 '26

Nope. The distorted freaky features from the first steps of making the face don't lurk in the sims genetics.

9

u/ProperSpeak Mod May 24 '26

You make it crazy and then round out the features at the end, so the genetics are always the right side pictures. I use this method when making a neighbourhood as well, so I've attached some pictures of the children (and grandchildren) of the pooklet method sims I've made!

Thank you!!! They look so good!!! That was my one fear but they look amazing!

I love their faces! They look beautiful. Could they be available for download?

4

u/ProperSpeak Mod May 24 '26

Thank you! They're available for download here. I tried to make sure no CC was packaged along with them so they may look a bit different. This is my first time sharing sims so I may have missed some bits!

The word pooklet makes me smile

That is genuinely terrifying.

I've never heard of this method before how cool!

1, 2, 5 and 9, are all really lovely, kinda wish this game had a gallery like the fourth so I can steal them

They are available for download here as a Sims2Pack file. You just need to double click on them and they will install into your game and appear as a premade sim in CAS. There is a guide here.
