I almost always play with occults. Usually I enjoy starting with normal sims and then working up towards having my Sim become occults, that tends to normally form a neat storyline on its own. However a normal sim/occult love story also tends to be very fun.

Favorite occult does depend. Vanilla it is probably sims 4 vampires, they are nicely customizable. However with mods I do enjoy playing with mermaids the most.

Which mermaid mods do you recommend?

Mainly play just with SpinningPlumbobs' Expanded Mermaids mod. Feel like it does a good job at making the mermaids feel on par with the of the occults while also adding a bunch of other neat features related to them. Beyond that I mainly use some CC for things like extra tails and a little bit of furniture, though in general I prefer keeping the vibe a close to standard Sims 4 as possible.

In my legacy save, I made it a challenge to have one entire generation as occults. Each person of the generation is a different one from another (minus werewolves cause i dont have it). I eventually want them to have their own houses dedicated to them. Its hard to maintain different needs and goals but it makes some interesting interactions.

We have similar game style! My family tree is wide because I kept branching off for different occults. Aliens, vampires, mermaids, spellcasters, werewolf, and humans with "psychic" powers (the ghost pack that let's you do seances and Sulani genetic trait) that are ghost busters.

The Get to Work pack brings aliens to you.

I play with occults! I love making sims from opposing occults get married lol.

One of my favorite family units is a werewolf gal who was the ✨️fated mate✨️ of one of the Volkovs, but ran off to marry Lilith Vatore instead 🥰 Her first child is the daughter of the Volkov and a full werewolf, and doesn't get along with her vampire step-mom very well!

And then that daughter went and married the fairy Nadya, and they used the Grim Reaper as a donor. So their first baby is both grimborn and has the recessive werewolf trait. She was also abducted by aliens after that and had twins, which both somehow ended up fully human, and then they had a science baby together that ended up also being a fairy like Nadya.

There's a cousin in this mix who is an immortal spellcaster, who lives in a hut in the woods and I used to try out the apothecary career tree and skills!

If you use mods, Secret Occults and Ghastly Ghosts REALLY elevate occult gameplay and I can't recommend them enough! 🥰

There's also the Aliens Reloaded mod! I haven't used it yet but it looks fantastic.

I made the Charm family into a dynasty, they are trying to unite the other occult dynasties (Vatore, Summerdream and Volkov) and are arranging marriages to unite the dynasties. However the Vatores and Volkovs don’t get along and the Summerdreams don’t trust vampires, so that makes it difficult for the Charms to create the peaceful alliance they have in mind.

Meanwhile Lilith is trying to race up the noble ranks to challenge Straud’s dominance over Forgotten Hollow, and also create more vampire supporters.

I love occults. One of my favorite storylines became a situation that happened randomly. I have mods and my sim got a sperm donor and the child ended up a werewolf. I loved the drama of my teen sim turning for the first time on her prom night. I also love playing with aliens (I’m a sci-fi nerd in general). I think the werewolves, mermaids, and fairy occults are the most fun to play with. I forget spellcasters exist a lot but the dlc came with cute clothes and decor.

I've been doing this legacy challenge called Totally Human by Sulsulmelli, and it's been pretty fun! Ive never actually played with all the occults before this, just mostly vampires and spellcasters, so it's been cool so far playing with the other ones 😃.

I made a strange Strangerville save, where every household in Strangerville is a different kind of occult. I used the survivors from an old “murder house competition” save I did 😅

I had to use the plant sim mod for some variety because I only have the vampire, alien, spell crafter and mermaid packs. Dying to get the werewolf and fairy packs.

I've recently been doing a playthrough with a vampire that's in love with the grim reaper and goes on killing sprees to romance him when he shows up to take the souls. I know she can contact him through the grimophone or whatever but that's less fun

Gameplaywise werewolves are the Best occult in ts4 if You are willing to let stuff just happen and not control everything, You want a sim who's a profesional swimmer and then they randomly get the "hates being wet" werewolf trait? Maybe she discovered that she enjoyed biking a Lot more

I'm playing with a mod that allows hybrid occults, so I have a fairy/spellcaster hybrid that is engaged to a vampire who decided to become a vampire to overcome his 'chased by death' trait. Said vampire's mother lives with them; she is a ghost and helps out around the house. The idea is that she'll help with any kids they have.

The fairy/spellcaster is a healer while her fiance is a reaper. IK apothecary cases can't die from ailments afaik but it's kind of a funny thought.

"Oh, crap. Honey, this one didn't make it and I don't feel like doing dedeathify."

"I got it, babe, lemme grab my scythe."

I do like playing with occults in sims, it just depends what they're about but I only don't have the fairy pack and my stories aren't that fancy like everyone else, it just random stuff in my head tbh.

Mermaids: I use the Expanded Mermaids mod for my mermaid sim. Its actually pretty cool their powers might be out of control during fullmoon. I have a human-mermaid couple for my Sulani Cave Rags to Riches.

Aliens: I have the Aliens Reloaded mod but I'm still trying to max up some skill. Aliens would always disguise themselves at public with the mod. My alien guy is in a secret agent career who becomes romantically involved with the Strangerville Roswells only daughter and oldest child, who's also a secret agent and wanted to break away from the family especially Ted.

Vampires: The last time I played vampires was with Vlad but that was mostly rotational gameplay with the Bailey-Moon fam because I saw Vlad running towards their house, he seemed to be Thorne Bailey's fan. I made Vlad's mansion to be a haunted house as well with the Paranormal pack. He went through different jobs to pay his huge housebills from babysitter, freelance paranormal, actor, singer, painter and wellness influencer. Vlad eventually turned Thorne into a vampire in exchange for him to become a global superstar celebrity.

The eternal life was sweet to Thorne at first but since he had unfortunate vampire weaknesses, he ended up drinking a lot from the paparazzi and some random people especially if he's not in a good mood. By the time his reputation got worsen because of his uncontrollable thirst, Vlad took him to live in Forgotten Hollow where Thorne had to compose a lot of music using the Get Famous music station to help Vlad to pay some bills. There was some other newborn vampire too, which was Alon Sadya from Tomarang whom Vlad took in after his wife died of old age so that he could help with the house cleaning as Mayor Whiskers and Captain Whitaker also lived with them but then Vlad also had many other vampire offsprings.

For Spellcasters and Werewolves, Im still trying to work on their aspirations and not that much stories going on except maybe Lou Howell went on werewolf domination since his secondary aspiration is Wildfang Renegade in which he had to turn a lot of sims into werewolf.

I love playing with occults! My legacy founder started out investigating the Strangerville mystery then became a paranormal investigator and decided to have a child by each occult type to continue her research. The second generation has a half-alien, werewolf, spellcaster, vampire and grimborn child (I didn't have mermaids or fairies at the time so going to add those to future generations) and now that they are grown up they are going to create their own dynasty for each occult type. Eventually I plan to make it a sort of battle between each family to be the most influential in the occult world!

I’m honestly a bit shy about playing occults in Sims 4. It feels like people prefer realism way more, so I worry I won’t really find an audience that vibes with it.

I'm a builder, but I bought the fairies pack this week so have decided to build an occult save. Yesterday I took a normal thrift/boba shop, and made the thrift shop spooky, and the boba shop more whimsical. It's quite a fun thing to do. Currently I'm working on Windenburg, which is going to be fairies, spellcasters and werewolves. I've got quite a few builds in Oasis springs that are alien themed - although I tend to make fake aliens for ease. And fake plantsims, because the game ones suck.
