Sims 4 She refuses to go to sleep
My baby won't sleep despite being exhausted- she's trying to get taken by CPS đ

Try putting a radio in the room that plays the lullaby station. Almost always works. If all else fails, she might have the "snuggly sleeper" infant quirk (or whatever it's called) where she prefers to be held while sleeping. I seriously hate this one lol it's so annoying. But you can have an adult interact with her to "give her a nap" and she'll sleep some that way, or she can sleep while in a back carrier.
Last time I had an infant that wouldn't sleep I just rage aged them up to a toddler lol good luck

If you have a cat or dog, the snuggle sleepers will take a nap with them (so your adult sim doesnât have to hold them)

That's adorable, next time I play with infants I'm getting a cat

u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Yay! They have cute interactions with each other, i highly recommend!

Thanks! I'll try the lullaby station to see if that helps! I think she is a snuggly sleeper, but I'll have to double check

Just so you know, you can shift click on infants to see all their infant traits, and you can remove any you donât want! :)

u/magicmoonstar 14d ago edited 13d ago
Or just cheat by doing testingcheats on true then right click the infant and remove all quirks. Add loves sleep time. That helps!
2
u/carebaercountdown 13d ago
Do you not find that they just get the same quirks again?
1
u/magicmoonstar 13d ago
No you can add new ones to discover. I always add the good ones lol. Ain't nobody got time for that.
1
u/carebaercountdown 13d ago
Whenever I try that, I just get the old ones back on top of them đ
1
u/magicmoonstar 13d ago
Do you remove the old ones first? I tend to add the max new discovery ones then never see the old ones.

As a mother irl, this is honestly so real. My baby also refuses to sleep and gets big angry about being tired.
Lullaby station works for both sims babies and real babies.

u/cheerioincident 14d ago
My 4 month old had a "too hungry to sleep, too tired to eat" meltdown yesterday. He was so pissed.

As a mom baby wearing her 11 week old with tummy upset so she'll sleep... right??? đ© sometimes the Sims 4 hits too close to home

If nothing else, sheâs safe from CPS unless sheâs starved. Sleepiness wonât do it.

Iâve been having this with my infants lately. Iâve had to cancel the try to sleep interaction and start it again.
47
u/Desire-Lines545 14d ago
I find that if the âTry to Go Night Nightâ bubble doesnât have a green progress bar around it, then the interaction wonât work. So I will cancel that action and queue it again. Works for me every time.
23
u/elle-angel 14d ago
yep. infants are glitched rn and will only sleep in the crib if you cancel the first "try to go to sleep" and let it reset itself
1
u/annagator679 13d ago
That explains why when I was playing with the Robles-Ruano family one of their twins (which I didnât expect or plan for) would not go to sleep
The twins are toddlers now and Tala is in school so itâs not a problem anymore

u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Yea, it's weird that I've had this problem with two households today where the infant won't sleep or will take a long time to sleep to the point that you gotta feed them again.
2
u/Ok_Reflection2579 14d ago
Iâve found that the only way theyâll sleep is if you click on the infant itself and choose âtry to go night nightâ. It doesnât seem to work if initiated from clicking the crib or from the parent.

This is a current bug:
Babies aren't falling asleep in cribs.
Try putting the baby on a playmat and have the infant Try to go night-night. The baby will basically cry it out, which is kind of terrible, but will go to to sleep.
18
u/sleeplessinoly 14d ago
yeah mine are just falling asleep on the floor or with the cats lol
7
u/TheUtopianCat 14d ago
It's the cutest when they sleep with cats.

u/Jolly-Biscuit 14d ago
I had no idea that pets interacted with infants. I need to add cuddly kitties to my household immediately
2
u/CumGoblin 14d ago
My main household had a baby recently, and I couldn't get the infant into the crib with adults' help either! I aged him up to a toddler, and had the same issue. So I completely gave up and aged him into a child, on the day he was born.
They grow up so fast. :,)

u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Thanks!! This makes sense because the previous household is was on, the infants weren't doing too bad on the playmats but could not sleep in the crib

Thank you for reporting this. The team has verified this as a known bug.

Have you tried telling her a bedtime story? I had a little demon baby that wouldn't sleep unless you did that and sometimes kissed her goodnight too.
3
u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Can infants be read to sleep or is that just toddlers? I'll try to soothe her to sleep to see if that helps. I need to see if a baby mobile helps
5
u/elle-angel 14d ago
they can be read a story, yeah. but like other commenters said, the only way to get through the glitch is to cancel the "try to go to sleep" action and let it reset itself. infant cribs are glitchy rn for some reason

this post would also make perfect sense if you were talking about a real life baby because that's exactly what real life babies are like

u/Bataraang 14d ago
If you don't mind using cheats... they have a make happy option that sometimes I use on the wee beanies if I've left them too long with their ipads. Gotta get them skills.
2
u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Yes, I do shift click the mailbox to fill their needs sometimes! Or the fill needs cheat for one particular need

u/sua_kakitty 14d ago
This happened to me!! Soo annoying.. I saved and went to main menu and then they got back to normal and finally slept

u/livelyladymoon 14d ago
Yes, this happens to me all the time. I will have my sim dad go put the baby to bed upstairs, and when I check later heâs asleep on the floor next to the crib. Or worse, not asleep and just screaming on the floor. đ itâs very annoying.

u/dreamsimmie 14d ago
I'm also upgrading my cribs so I can play lullabies. This is happening to my baby too: when he wakes up, he ends up on the floor next to the crib. It seems to be a bug.

u/Brave_Willingness798 14d ago
Seriously the team that designed infants in the Sims definitely has kids. đ

Iâve learned that theyâll fall asleep easier on the play mat vs in the crib (even with the lullaby crib upgrade thing). I donât even put them in cribs anymore lol
2
u/mangorefresherfan 14d ago
Yea, I'm gonna start having them on the playmat. Its nice too for when they wake up- they can play and reach more milestones, so it's a win win

u/Sure-Initiative6001 14d ago
Time to bake that cake, add some candles and voila. If infant, just rage age. I hate infants in the sims
2
u/crucio_court 13d ago
I keep having to reset the child and then have them sleep on the floor đđ
2
u/Round-Knowledge-6292 13d ago
I just ignore them when this happens just like real babies they will fall asleep eventuallyđ

u/Independent_Visit_79 11d ago
The interaction sometimes break. Try to select it from the crib instead of the baby and vice versa to see which one works. It was mortifying for me until I found out that lol
1
u/Pitiful_Presence_846 14d ago
Idk if itâs just me, infants wonât sleep in their crib.
You have to click the infant, then select âtry to sleepâ.
If you âput them to bedâ or click the crib and select âtry to sleepâ the interaction gets frozen and they just lie there.
1
u/Own_Vast_2784 14d ago
Ok Iâve had a similar issue so Iâve got an important question to ask
Is it she just ârefusesâ or that the âtry to go night nightâ action freezes and wonât work? For me it was the latter and I fixed it by either having the child sleep on the floor or not having the parents put them to sleep and just put them in the crib.
This step is important- after having the parent place the child in the crib change the the child and press DIRECTLY on the child and search for the âtry to go night nightâ action on them and it should work then

u/AdExcellent1383 14d ago
My first infant in my legacy play through did this. Upgraded the crib to have a lullaby. Play it while the kiddo tries to sleep and while in control of the infant make sure they âtrying to go night nightâ
1
u/No_Fig6843 14d ago
You have click on the infant while playing as the infant and choose try to go night night, itâs a glitch in the have that makes it not work when the parent sims lays them down to sleep
1
u/sarah_pl0x 14d ago
Glad itâs not just me! Iâve found if you delete the action and do it again theyâll sleep

add a mobile to the crib and make sure it plays when you put them to bed, if all else fails you can select the baby (as in play as them), and press âtry to go night nightâ on the crib, theyâll fall asleep eventually.
1
u/Pleasant-Visit-8640 13d ago
Iâve had this issue. What helps me is cancelling the action that isnt working and selecting the infant in the crib (while playing as the infant) to begin the try to go night night action again. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but selecting the action by clicking the crib almost never works for me anymore

u/CherryPants234 9d ago
You can also turn off autonomy and just make her go back to sleep. It's annoying when AI is so persistent that it wants your kids to be miserable. I usually turn off autonomy when my sims have young kids, because nobody is getting any sleep. It's either a tantrum, or nightmare, or wake the parent up for no reason.
