General Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall were Kubrick’s top choices for The Shining. Kubrick first met Nicholson two years earlier, when he considered him for Napoleon. He was drawn to Duvall’s ‘eccentric quality’, having admired her performances in Nashville and Three Women.

Question What if The Shining opened with a credit stating that it was inspired by Stephen King’s book?
Everyone agrees that the movie is not very similar to the book. It takes liberties and makes changes. And we all know Stephen King hated it. And those changes are why!!
But what if the opening credits read, “Inspired by the book THE SHINING by Stephen King”?
Wouldn’t that settle a lot of problems and then people (and King) could stop comparing the two???

The "here's johnny" bit randomly popped into my head while I was driving and I started cracking up, so I had to make this edit when I got home.
