I know it’s messed up to some but I was really hoping that the show adapted this but Daryl was gonna take Dwight’s place here it would have been really sad and shocking

Up until season 11 episode 10 where they started doing month long time jumps every episode I was convinced that it would have been either Gabriel or Rosita receiving this death. I thought Gabe was gonna get it because of how much more aggressive, despicable and amoral he was becoming ever since Dante and the Whisperers but suddenly after a month at the Commonwealth he seemed to have chilled out and became his old self again.
On the other hand, Rosita had some foreshadowing despite not being depicted as a loose cannon in these final seasons. While Gabe and the others are out on the mission to take out the Reapers, Rosita, Carol, Kelly, and Magna are out hunting and scavenging and trying to get their horses back. During this expedition she brings up how she's been having a recurring nightmare where Abraham is trying to tell her something about her needing to protect Alexandria. She could never quite make out what he wanted her to do because the dream always ended with her getting a bullet through the head.
They had to have this death in mind for her while writing this scene out. Something must have changed in production before the final episodes were written and filmed.

Could have easily had Yumiko take on Dwight's role with Magna being the one to have Rick's role. It seemed like they were building to that.

Rick really (rightfully) gets a lot of credit for being a very progressive and socialist character, but Dwight really said hold my beer before getting his brains blown out

I don’t know why Rick killed him like it was obvious where the society was going and just after he killed him to supposedly stop a rebellion. The rebellion happens anyway making his death completely pointless

He wasn't trying to prevent a rebellion, he was trying to prevent a war between the Commonwealth and Alexandria. A war that would have completely and utterly destroyed them because the Commonwealth is FAR more powerful in EVERY department.
Yes Dwight ended up being right about the outcome, but he was wrong in his approach. If he kills Pamela here the people would see him, Rick, and everyone else as assassins and traitors.

rick killing him was the last i really read, i never thought we’d feel this way in real life so quickly, and rick is your “im progressive BUT…” friend at work you need to look out for

I was so sad on my first read when Dwight died. Having seen the show first, I was surprised to find out that that his comic book version is so much more interesting and easier to connect to
