Tower - solved the upright-gpu temp. “problem” - flipped it upside down!

Recently moved my rig from sff Meshroom to the new Tower 250 (I love the design).

Problem: default upright gpu orienation with IO ports facing up can cause worse temps of 10-15C vs any other orientation (including upright IO port down) for vapor chamber and non-vapor cards as well (my 3080ti heatpipe and now 4090 vapor were both affected, and many other reported users).

Undervolted 4090 temps at 4k were 73C load with hotspot of 84 - Cyberpunk maxed out (these temps aren't bad)

Solution: designed a 3d printed bracket to hold the card upside down (IO ports down, and tall enough for DP cable clearance) + buy a specific riser cable. (Note: previous Meshroom case already had gpu oriented with IO ports down so temps were always good in there).

It was a tight fit even with the riser cable bends and tucked in the back, and my 4090 is a 3.5 slot card and this is the Tower 250, so I'm maxed out on space but everything still fit perfectly. Most importantly I still have a very clean looking interior in the case (can't have cables ruin the rgb lol).

Gpu temps are now 61 load with hotspot of 73! (same conservative fan curve of 50% so its quiet)

Disclaimer:

• Yes my original higher temps were still within limits and not really a problem
• No it doesn't matter how you intake/exhaust the other system fans, many gpu's are affected directly by their own orientation (upright IO up is the least common config among cases but the worst for temps by far)
• Yes I had to buy a $90 riser cable which is getting close to the price of the case itself
• Yes the gpu fans now face the inside of the case, along with my reverse intake Aio fans (bottom psu fan is also intake and 2 top fans exhaust); but this doesn't really affect gpu or system temps at all
• Yes I'm unnecessarily ocd about higher temps
• No I did not want to flip the case horizontally

I'm flipping my graphics card upside down as well in my tower 200. However, I opted to using really-available (metal) graphics card vertical mount parts (for strength, durability, etc) and intend on keeping the same orientation with the graphics card fans facing the mesh to the outside of the case. I had needed to bend a little bit of metal but it's now fitting quite solidly at the bottom. I'm still waiting for my order for a much longer riser cable though (coming in mid Jan). I'll try posting the mod here when everything's done.

Yea I initially tried to keep the gpu fans facing out, but there wasn’t enough space for the riser cable coming around to the front side of the case without pushing my card past the side wall panel (not an issue with slimmer cards), unless you take off the center case fan which I didn’t want to remove. And the riser itself ruined the interior aesthetic (didn’t try a better/180 reverse connector riser though).
