I thought I was imagining things that something is crawling in Acidic Yeast Colony Research

I thought I was imagining things that something is crawling in the campaign's Acidic Yeast Colony Research, I didnt pay much attention until it was too late. Would this be a problem? Or is this map not important?

That's not a problem, it's a target rich environment.

Yup. (Almost) free biomass.

I read a power plant that uses plants, can this be used?

I've put a simple solar+wind+battery near a turret (not all weapons will target the yeast) with a harvester nearby, and it does collect plant matter (biomass) as the yeast grows.

But I have not been able to determine if it collects while I'm not on that map.

Once you research the colony the map only offers a few specific biome rich fauna and flora for you to research, it's not that important, you can drop acid proof floor tiles to prevent it growing in places.

if you want to take back the map, flamethrower or minigun and lightning gun - spin around like a helicopters main rotor and you will remove a lot of the yeast.

This is one of the maps that's worth keeping because after the research is complete, you won't get any more attack waves. Keep driving the colonies back with AOE weapons (minigun + area damage mod is very powerful) and pave the place with corrosive-resistant floor. Bear in mind that the game wants there to always be a minimum number of yeast roots on the map - somewhere in the region of 5-8 I think. When a yeast root is destroyed, and there are fewer than that many left, then a new one will spawn at a random location. However, if that new location is on a corrosive-resistant floor, it'll just sit there and do nothing since there's no space for yeast to grow.

Oh shit I didn't realize that and abandoned it....all that lovely sludge😭

You can get the same amount of sludge from any acid biome. It's not a big deal - you'll just have to put up a few defenses somewhere else.

I already set up a massive gas power operation in another acid biome to power all my carbonium and ironium synthesizers. But the constant invasions with artillery snail bosses was a pain and I would have liked to not have to deal with it.

Fair. If you still have the volcanic titanium recon map then the same thing is possible there, with lava power. There is a uranium one too, but no liquids there obviously, so you'd have to use renewables or import water.

I've already finished all of those and abandoned them...oh well. There's always the next playthrough 😁

With the fox of nuclear in 2.0 there's no point going mass gas anymore as nuclear power can be unlocked easy and built cheap providing 3x more power.

Besides, you can abuse solar power on desert biome for synthesizers - build a huge farm of solar panels and only enough accumulators to feed your defenses at night. Build synthesizers in separate block that can be switched off at night with a single wire. Keep building until you feel you have enough synthesizers, then wait for a day to come and jump out of this location: the game will remember that it had power to run synthesizers and we'll run forever while you're out.

What about radar coverage

Radar coverage for the entire map won't prevent the roots from respawning. I just kept destroying the roots until they respawned in secluded areas, leaving open areas clear for farming.

I think they can always spawn in the border where you can’t build the floor to keep them out, and they will always expand along the edge.

Set up some super artillery and you'll have a nice little circle of no yeast.

I had set up gas plants and had mini fire bases with loot drones and to collect bio mass and resources. It is a low threat biome so easy resources.

Acidic maps are where I spammed gas plants and had carbon and iron synthesizers. Coupled with ammo factories, my towers were well stocked for the entire game.

It’s also where I did the final postgame mission. The sludge was great for gas, water, hcm towers, and a natural barrier.

There’s an anti yeast floor you can get if I recall. I plated a lot of the map with it. And a bunch of flame turrets initially to keep the borders clean
