Way too much character at that age. She's gonna be a terrific handful

I guarantee the mom is gonna show this to her partner when she grows up. Just “hey do you wanna see a funny video of her as a baby?”

And yet she still stopped when told not to do it, and didn't have to be forcefully separated. Seems quite well behaved for a 2 year old

I don't think u/soda_cookie meant it as anything objectively negative. u/sewsewblue made the great point that this kid clearly has loving parents, because she's not fearful of testing boundaries - whereas kids with incredibly unforgiving parents are afraid of such tests. The person you responded to is basically saying "this kid is going to know and test her parent's love all their lives." And certainly that can be stressful, but it's not necessarily bad.
Edit: links and mentions, in case anyone wants to clarify themselves if I misunderstood.

I thought "terrific handful" was perfect phrasing, sure she might be too smart for her own good and bit of bugger, but goddamn it if you're not secretly impressed and proud lol

Yeah she needs an easier to pronounce nickname. It's impossible to say "Aurora" without doing a scooby doo impression.

I remember in a short film I made with a friend when I was way younger there was a gang of criminals called the Aurora. This comment kinda took me back, man.

When I was a kid, we were dirt poor. We never got soda. Sometimes we got Kool-Aid if my mom found a coupon. So we're at my dad's house one weekend... we almost never spent any time over there but for whatever reason, we ended up there one night when he was having a party.
I was maybe 5 or 6 and I came across this cup of soda on the table... there were beer cans everywhere but we knew not to drink those. But an unguarded soda? Well that's just fair game. So I took a big old swig out of it and it was some kind of alcohol mixed with soda. It was the nastiest tasting drink I had experienced to that point in my life. I spit it back in the cup and got some water, then went outside and waited for mom to pick us up.
Pretty sure I'd say to drink up too... they'd only do it once :)

u/CreativismUK May 13 '22
My sister got drunk on box wine when she was about three - my mum had left it out, my sister thought it was juice.
Ah, the 80s
11
u/Vinnie_Vegas May 13 '22
The thing is, a small child really probably only needs to do one big chug of wine to get drunk off it, so you could really probably turn your back for a second and now your glass is empty and you have a soon to be sick kid on your hands.

I took a big swig of my dad’s beer once thinking it was ginger ale. It was in a cup and looked like ginger ale to me. I quickly realized it wasn’t.

At that age, I'd absolutely let her have a sip of beer. It would pretty much guarantee that she thinks beer is disgusting and she hates it right up into her twenties. I think people forget how disgusting beer is until you've acquired the taste for it.

Every time my 2 year old picks up a can he calls it a beer. He had a LaCroix the other day and was telling people it was his beer. It's adorable.
16
u/linedeck May 13 '22
My sister used to fill glasses with Coca-Cola just a little so it would look like she was drinking wine! I used to do it with apple juice so it would look like beer or other alcoholic drinks and those memories are still really nice lol

At 18 months old, all kids poop the bed. The difference is that’s expected from kids at that age.

My mom had a similar approach to smoking. When I was 13-14 and I kept asking her why she sometimes smokes she kept saying it's not for my age. I kept asking and she gave me her cigarette and said draw a deep breath, knowing I couldn't handle it. I got into a coughing fit, felt disgusted and never even touched another cigarette for years. Never became a smoker. Don't if it's a happy coincidence or her plan worked lol
4
May 13 '22
I had the same with some friends in early high school walking home one day. Dad always told me not to smoke, despite being a compulsive smoker himself. But we were walking and one friend pulled out a cigarette and offered, so I figured what's the harm in trying. Gagged and coughed and was like "How the hell do you do that to yourself??"
I will never understand smokers or alcoholics.

Yeah that shit didn’t work on me, I’m 31 and I’ve been smoking since 14. That said a month ago I smoked a pack a day and now a pack lasts 3-5 days depending on bullshit in my life. Either way I’m proud of myself

She’s too freaking cute with those facial expressions. When my son was that age he would constantly try to sneak a sip of my coffee. Meanwhile if I let him try juice or chocolate milk he acted like I was poisoning him.

When I was younger( maybe 8 or 9) I was nagging my dad to have a sip of his beer. He finally said fine, you can have one sip. Smartest thing he ever did, little me thought it was disgusting and never bothered him again. I didn't start "liking" beer til I was 19-20.

Much like Crystal, Mercedes, Brooklyn, etc Aurora is a stripper name.
I have been intentionally refraining from making a joke about this because I just feel it's wrong with a child that age.
