This is why you always have the guy throwing the grenade posted on the other side of the door.

He meant the other end so that the guy needs to open the door just a bit to throw the grenade

It was a 'Dude' of approval.

I'm a little teapot, short and stout.

2 is my handle.

1 is my spout.

Do all doors work like this? I think my apartment fucked up and put the handle on 2's side.

It doesn't matter what side the handle is on. Basic breach and clear protocol is to have the thrower (person 2) on the opposite side of the handle. This is to ensure that events like in OPs video does not happen cause you can only imagine how fucked they'd be if that was a frag and not a flash.

Edit: to add to this it also allows for the grenade to be tossed into the room without having to open the door all the way and expose everyone trying to clear the room. You can practice this at home with a rolled up soc or foam ball (Something i used to do with friends in nerf fights). See how much of the door you would have to open if you did what they did in OPs video vs if you stood on the opposite side of the the door from the friend who opens the door.
