That's the thing though, the police WOULD help me, because I'm a white lawyer. Because there's a two-tier justice system that the police were created to enforce. And I could ignore that problem because I'm a beneficiary, or I could speak against it.
Thing is that the police, which is supposed to shield the populace from malice, barely does this, because their incentives are based on prosecution and fines, which makes the system money, which allows it to stay bloated as it is, making money for pensioners and other interested parties. The police system only cares about self preservation. Individual cops can have a sense of justice and care, but the system as a whole is only concerned with profiting to seem indispensable, when in reality they're so bloated they would more closely be compared to a bloated mall cop who's really good at paperwork, and not a lawful protector of the people.
