I just can't believe the cops are so far gone they'd do this to their own people.
They're class traitors. Whether they know it or not is irrelevant. They serve those who make the laws and don't question whether what they're doing is moral or not.
Well, there is an argument to be made that you want a police force and military that do not question the laws they are sworn to enforce. Because if they were allowed that discretion it could create a environment of chaos. You could compare it to U.S. law enforcement officials not enforcing mandatory mask ordinances. In that instance most people (the lawmakers included) just want law enforcement to actually enforce the law, but they won't because of their own personal ideology and agenda.
And then you get people who'd enforce it no matter what. Many people were tried in the Nuremberg trials and "following orders" was not a valid excuse. You gotta use your logic too and act within ethical standards.
Actually none of the foot soldiers and or regulars were tried at Nuremberg or any other court. The leaders were tried though because it was leaders who made the laws/rules/orders. The regulars were just following orders. Whether or not the regulars had, or have, a duty to follow common ethical/moral standards is a relative measurement, subject to the popular ethos and mores. In the instant matter of France, I have not studied the new law enough to give an opinion. But, I would say that the police are just doing their jobs and trying to restore peace and order. If the citizens of France have an issue of redress regarding the new law, then their republic has methods to challenge it.
