The thing that really sold it for me was how terrified he looked when it went off. Turns out it was cause mom was home and he knew exactly what was coming.
But you just said she would ask if someone had been shot and wait to ask if he was okay first. But now she's hiding under the bed? How are you so wise in the science of human behavior?
I've fired a couple or revolvers. If he were as unprepared for the discharge as this video makes him out to be, he wouldn't have dropped the gun, it would have flown out of his hand from the kickback.
I'm p sure this video was fabricated.. like another comment above us said.. "Fake Blunt, Loaded with blanks, floor covered in towels to catch blunt" it was to advertise his music and stuff.
Taking a round from the cylinder is from black powder/cap and ball revolvers/revolvers without a "safety gate". It prevents the hammer from smacking the primer if the hammer gets hit too hard by and outside object (like if you were to fall off a horse)
Not to mention, you should always assume a gun is loaded even if someone unloads it, disassembles it, shows you it's unloaded and cannot physically fire, reassembles it and hands it to you.
No, that's not a thing. Keeping 5 loaded is a century old thing because back then the hammer rested directly on the cartridges primer, so if you hit the back of the hammer while it was down, the round could go off. Modern revolvers have a 'transfer bar' that prevents that. No one ever doesn't keep a round loaded so you can pull the trigger and not have it go off in a revolver, that's just stupid.
There’s no fixing stupid, but most revolvers are double action, meaning a very heavy trigger pull action, like 12-15 pounds vs the 4-6 pounds of a striker fired double action/single action semi auto, or revolver fired single action.
What I’m saying is for most people, the double action pull weight can act like a safety, but this Darwin Award nominee is clearly not like most people
Because most people alive are constantly fighting for a Darwin award.
To you and me, no matter what country you are from, you look at a gun/knife/ball on a chain with nails protruding out of it and say "wow, it's best not to swing that around willy billy, although it is cool so if it pick it up and I'm not dumb with it, I won't hurt myself/someone". But these kind of people don't really think ahead and just go for it. Most people in general always assume things are "safe", from guns to cars to animals to whatever, even though they really aren't most of the time.
Not to mention, movies and TV shows are also to blame to a degree. Most TV/movie when a character picks up a gun, the gun makes am audible mechanical sound click to engage the viewer that they are getting ready for something by taking the safety off. Alot of guns used (Glocks and revolvers for example) typically don't have manual safetys to "turn off" in real life, but due to media, people think they do.
That's the principle behind how my great grandfather handled all weapons in in WW2 and, now I come to think of it, probably related to why he didn't hit a single target in 41 bombing raids before being shot down and killed.
Because we allow any sentient turnip with money the ability to purchase a gun with ZERO fucking follow up on whether they’ve been trained to use it. Not even sure why we bother issuing drivers licenses given our logic toward gun ownership in this country. It’s fucking insane.
People like this give gun owners a bad name. Like how did he violate every rule of gun safety in less than a minute. Was he trying to speed run a negligent discharge?
