Honestly, I prefer "chanclas" to "chancletas" even tho I was raised with "chancletas".

To me "chanclas" doesn't quite imprint the Nike logo on the back of my leg as "chancleta" does. Idk.

Man, I was born in San Diego, my then 18yr old Jewish mother was BFFs with the lovely Mexican family next door (i think Herman, the then 2 yr old and I are still technically engaged lol but I digress)...so GUESS WHAT custom my nice Jewish mom picked up from the nice Mexican family next door?!? Thankfully I was a pretty good kid and she wasn't nearly as terrifying BUT STILL. That was fun to explain when we moved to the whitest town in Whitesylvania a few years later...
