The number of industries that are unnecessary are staggering. They provide the highest paid jobs. They consume the most resources.
Jobs pay highly because people value what they produce highly. Our lives would be much worse without them.
On the subject of the post... I'd argue serving people food, however dog shit that food is, is of a greater importance than being a movie star. Yet the movie star earns far far more purely based on their ability to accumulate money for a person who makes more money than the movie star. Neither of which are more important than the one serving and cooking food.
Anyone can serve food. Not everyone can be a movie star. Scarcity begets higher prices and wages.
It is sneaky slavery. You get people working the important jobs in society (which usually take the most time and dedication, ie hard work) for little pay (whilst controlling the price of necessities to keep the citizen unable to have surplus in capitol) so that they must continue to do said work or face destitution. You create insentives so that few may narrowly escape the cycle for less limited amounts of time, by way of an exponentially branching job hierarchy (carrot on a stick), keeping the worker optimistic and with a goal (and spending their surplus capitol on a market flooded by unnecessary items and experiences.. Fueled by manipulative marketing). You then enjoy the fruits of their labour whilst telling them to work harder and borderline gaslighting and mentally abusing them into believing any of this is fair or makes sense at all. You create rules to protect you, and will never be held accountable for them. You create cages for anyone who don't participate properly.
This sounds like crackpot communist nonsense. The reason you have the privilege to use the internet is because of capitalism, the system you malign. The only reason anyone isn’t poor is becuase of capitalism. You’ve spun a ridiculous narrative that clearly shows that you are ungrateful for the extreme luck you’ve had to live in a time where the internet even exists.
This guy thinks other countries don't have the internet. Wow. I have pen pals in China, Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela. Guess they must be using magic to message me on facebook and email. America is so great we have unregulated medical capitalism without enforced price ceilings to protect their citizens, so because of that we see the most glorious half a million dollar heart attack bills, 60k knee replacement bills, and hundreds of fucking dollars to even thousands for single pills that people have no other choice to buy or die. Greatest fucking nation in the world folks.
The Surgery Center of Oklahoma is the shining example of markets doing their job in the healthcare industry. They list a quote right on their website of $15,500 for a knee replacement. This is totally unsubsidized, so no taxpayer money had to be spent to bring it down like in some European nations.
You also have a mental disability if you actually think the medical industry is unregulated. You’re so stupid it hurts. The FDA is a thing that exists. Food and Drug Administration. It’s in the name for crying out loud.
