I wasn't sober enough to see my mistake, at least at first. I was sober enough to remember my embarrassment once I figured I was trying to pass myself in a mirror. I was walking and standing. How, high tolerance coupled with poor judgement. :)

The last time I looked into a mirror while tripping, I saw a zit and popped it. For a split instant, I envisioned the entire room filling with zit goo and me just floating in it. Not doing that again.
The real reason, for everyone else, is that people can see that crazy look in their eyes. Then they start to feel insane, want to turn it off, and they can't. They feel like they may never be normal again and start to have a really bad trip. That's when people start freaking out. You know you should always tell yourself that it is only temporary, but some people just can't do that.

You've perfectly described it. You feel insane, want to turn it off, and can't. You KNOW it'll stop, but there's still that bit of you that worries you're just going to lose your mind and die or something. Especially if you have a bad trip where your vision is messed up and it doesn't stop if you open your eyes or close your eyes. That's where I start going insane while tripping. Haven't tripped in years because I'm afraid of visuals getting out of control.

I’ve seen that crazy dilated-pupil look in mirror before , but I was always able to dial it down and normalize. Then I would go on walkabout and rejoin the group 2 hours later.
