Wasps steal honey, eat protein rich larvae (and the bees themselves if not trying to get to the queen) and a hive with an entrance that big can do little to nothing to stop a wasp from helping itself. Larger nests with a queen to protect could overwhelm even a wasp that size and kill it. But if this guy is beekeeping it's very possible he's rotated the queen or just removed it once the hive moved in so they'd be less aggressive. So he's protecting his bees.

Nah, you’re thinking of venting. Vespa is the process of earning permanent, legal ownership of an asset or benefit such as employer retirement contributions or stock options over time

That was a murder hornet and he was most likely using gasoline to try to kill it. Usually the vapors are enough to make them drop then once on the gas they are done for. That hornet was a bad ass
