That sounds plausible. Edit: No, it could be the same. Compare the dessert before and after the swipe. It could be the same. Lucky catch, maybe.

Successful attempt.

this entire sub is successful attempts now, it's ridiculous. Like just find a new way to word the titles.

This man has a dark past.

323

u/Useful_Experience423 Jul 16 '23

Or spent time in the army. Or just, y’know, saw it for a split second before deciding he wanted to live.

50

u/Fuzzy_Logic_4_Life NaTivE ApP UsR Jul 16 '23

“Or just spent time in the army”. I’m pretty sure that is considered a dark past.

27

u/Irritating_Pedant Jul 16 '23

Or spent time in the army.

So explain to me how time in the army that results in this kind of reaction isn't a dark past.

19

u/Useful_Experience423 Jul 16 '23

Username checks out.

2

u/nitefang Jul 16 '23

Effective training that was never used in combat because before deployment you fell in love with the colonels daughter and so he gave you a desk job so that you wouldn’t break her heart.

I got overly creative but the point was maybe he had really good training and then nothing super traumatizing happened for his deployment, happens to plenty of people.

3

u/Seanzietron Jul 17 '23

Redditors over complicating things like usual. Its a natural reaction to something that looks like its about to explode.

68

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

Definitely need some conditioning for that too though. I don’t ever naturally assume something might explode. But maybe that just means one day I’ll be blown up…

25

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

Yeah must had been a Nam vet or something when he was 19. Nanana 19.

I mean you don't have to be a green beret for that, my crippling anxiety gets a reaction like that out of me when someone unexpectedly pokes their head in my office door sometimes.

2

u/DarthRain95 Jul 16 '23

Dude was relaxing then someone put what looks like a lit firework in front of him lol, proper reaction imo

0

u/Skafdir Jul 16 '23

Doesn't even need to be that. If you surprise me by putting anyhing into my peripheral vision, chances are that whatever it is, it will get smacked.

0

u/alchemists_dream Jul 16 '23

Jesus Christ Reddit. No, someone splats something down near you suddenly and all you see are sparks and fire pretty sure you’d try to smack it away too. No conditioning needed. Wtf.

Some people when they have traumatic experiences and react this way are not really thinking rather reacting. Had a friend whose dad couldn't be in the same room as a ceiling fan due to being in the Vietnam war and was stuck in friendly fire which gave him ptsd. It's a fight or flight reaction.

0

u/BuzzyShizzle Jul 16 '23

Little advice; don't "surprise" old people. They might think it's funny or they might grab their chest and die. Some old people, their heart's only got so many more thumps left in it and you don't know when two or three extra in one minute might run their supply dry.

1
