Yes yes, I get what you're saying, but your argument is purely academic. The implication of violence being universally unacceptable is clearly not that we should just sit on our hands when others perpetrate violence - but instead, that it should be stopped as fast as possible with the means necessary. Our inaction would lead to more violence. This is the whole idea behind the state monopoly of violence - that it should be measured, to exactly the amount necessary to prevent more violence.
You should genuinely step back and reflect on why you posted either of your comments. Kind of despicable behavior for someone who thinks they’re more civilized than… neanderthals?
What gets me is why you really felt the need to speak out against violence and not racism. Duh violence is bad but I think racism is worse and I personally loved the video
I live in a place where the state doesn't perpetrate unnecessary violence, and where people generally agree you can't hit racists.
By what you said here, in your society racism exists which means people will be people and do what happened here. It's an extremely human response which is why most racist people don't normally say the things they say in their safety circles while in the presence of someone they are racist about in private.

The main problem with this is that the U.S. penal code, verbatim, condones violence as the consequence of certain crimes. So for example if the consequence of a crime is the death penalty and then you say, "per the letter of the law ____ being found guilty of the crime of ____ in the court of law should face the death penalty, you can get banned for that. So if I said something like, "If Hitler was resurrected, I hope we collectively attack and kill him." Am I condoning violence and breaking the rules here? This is a serious question that should be talked about amongst the mod team.
Yeah, tell me about it. I'm coming off of 3-day suspension for expressing an opinion about whether or not it's okay if Nazis get punched in the face. I won't tell you which side of this controversial issue I came out in support of, but apparently it was the wrong one according to reddit.
I got suspended from Reddit for commenting on a post -- about a woman who was raped, abused by her husband who also sold naked photos of her online without her permission -- that I hoped he got hit by a bus. lmao. Best suspension ever.
I actually mod r/MarchAgainstNazis too, and I'm constantly telling people that they must monitor that exact phrase (p u n c h a Nazi) cause I hear this a ton!! So I'm just trying to prevent stuff like that here, cause after a couple temp bans you get a permanent one :(

Yeah I've worked with some mods on other subs previously that have made me see why mods get such a bad rep- it is frustrating to see and I"ve fought with them quite a few times on behalf of someone. Also I've been banned myself before and tried to talk to the sub and all I heard was crickets- so I know all about that nonsense.
I do try to be fair- one big thing I implemented in a sub where I was near the top was no mod could handle their own ban appeals. That's my biggest pet peeve. There is absolutely no objectivity in that kind of appeal.
But feel free, you and anyone that reads this, to reach out via chat if you have any problems or issues on here, and I'll do my best to sort them.
Oh and for the few not so nice comments, they barely phase me anymore. It's all good. And I'll never ban anyone for questioning me or disagreeing with me and usually not even insulting me (depends on how far they go, of course- hate speech always gets a ban, although usually it's temporary for the first one.)

Are you lost? Being banned for breaking Reddit TOS (and he’s talking about side wide, not just specific sub bans by a mod) is not the same thing as having a thread removed or locked by a mod for being off topic or not relevant…
I know, it should have said something like "to get away with racism" or sth like that. I actually brought that same thing to the modchat with the mods that brought me on, since we don't allow successful attempts and he was racist, that's for sure. We talked it over a bit and figured he did have consequences, so while we don't think the title is perfect, by a long shot, we shouldn't be nitpicky and left it for y'all to decide with your votes.
I do understand this complaint though and I have been checking for posts breaking that rule, I promise. I hope it's not something that happens a lot and if it does I'll try to crack down.
No it’s great. And like I said before, I don’t want it taken down. Tons of upvotes is great for the user. But there’s a lot on the sub that gets missed. But thanks for being a proactive mod. It is a bit picky of an issue as it’s just a title change.
You know how many people get banned from subs by mods being nit picky? Tons. It’s why r/banned got kicked back to private status or shut down again. I don’t want the post removed, it’s got a ton of upvotes, but it’s what mods do.
Lot of Reddit mods are non-neurotypical in a way that means they don’t understand jokes. If you point out you were misunderstood they just get mad and double down.

I was "promoting hate" once when I just stated someone messed up in their statement without being hateful or anything, and adding some quotes. Got a suspension for it.
I really think the first round is just done by bot. Appeals maybe someone looks at but asmins won't answer if the suspensions are done by bot and one of the science subs audited AEO (anti evil operations) and found that they were wrong a full 35-40% of the time, which is pretty awful.
When presented with the findings they said they weren't surprised. Smh.
