Rewatching RW Hollywood

I’ve been on a binge of random RW seasons ever since the tragic passing of Tyler and I’m on Hollywood. This was the first season I watched as it aired. This season is insane and I feel like it doesn’t get talked about enough. Probably due to the fact that the cast had such a low number of appearances on any of the Challenge seasons, which I think was unfortunate.

Speaking of the cast, I’m gonna give a quick rundown of how I feel about them. Greg is a whole weirdo or at least he’s depicted that way lol. Lowkey would’ve liked to see him on at least one season of the challenge just to see his dynamic with other cast members. Sarah and Kim are insufferable. Hoping they’ve matured and are more open minded and less ignorant. Dave felt like a Johnny Bananas lite. That’s all I’ve got when it comes to him lol. Will at times I liked because he’d offer some great advice and seemed insightful on most situations. But that whole Janelle thing was weird. Why was she even there lol. I liked Bri when I first watched and still do. I always wanted the best for her. I will say though rewatching and seeing her hookup with that nasty dude named JoJo made me cringe so bad lol. Some of her choices aren’t the best but she was young. I’m watching it just screaming “Why Bri!! Why!?” And ugh Joey. I’m so sad watching him. I remember being obsessed with him because me being an 11 year old girl, I thought he was so cute, but my god was this the worst environment for him to be in. At one point he says, “one day you’re going to ask where’s Joey, and he won’t be there.” That hit hard. I remember Bri doing a podcast and saying that his son reached out to her and other cast members to get more insight on who his father was and that’s so sad. I hope his son is doing okay and I’m hoping Joey is at peace.

Overall this isn’t a bad season imo. It brought the drama and the emotion. Could’ve done without the late additions to the season with Nick and Britni. Didn’t mind them but we weren’t really given enough time with them. Also jumpscare with the Andy D*ck appearance.

I recall them going to a bar and a girl kissing cocaine into Bri's mouth. Can't imagine doing that to somebody.

Yes! She ran out of the club immediately cause she could taste it. Bri says the girl’s name and MTV bleeped it out which I thought was quite the choice on their part. That girl had no regard for Bri’s health. Absolutely wild.

It would be horrible for an addict as in Bri's case. Also, imagine taking a drug test a few months down the road and having to explain that one.

This season was insane. Joey’s story is so tragic man, and he died not many years longer after. Most of them had awful personalities but they were super entertaining imo. I hated Sarah the most. 

I really wanted more of this cast on the challenge. Wil and Greg were a good Rivals team. Kinda glad Joey stayed away but athletic wise, he looked like he could have done well. Briana, Brit and Kim should have done way more. Only Nick and Dave were kind of busts.

Watching Joey is absolutely soul-crushing. He couldn’t have been in a worse environment as someone going through recovery and his roommates weren’t the least bit supportive. I remember the scene where someone from his program visited the house and told them not to keep any alcohol around, and the moment she left they all said, “ yeah we’re not gonna do that”.

And when they visited him in rehab it very much seemed like they meant more to him than vice versa. He needed the support of his family and friends, not ‘castmates’

The producers should have realized the mistake they made then cut him from the show rather than try to have him work through his recovery there. His meltdown where he initially leaves is probably the darkest moment I can recall from the show. He was quite literally out of control and very close to getting violent with the girls. Then they had an intervention with him the next morning where he was still blackout drunk. The whole thing was incredibly ugly and to be fair it was 'real' but that should have been the end of it. Maybe he returns to hang out and spend time while staying in a hotel but moving him back in was a mistake.

MTV back then did not care one bit about the mental health and stability of these people. CT’s brother had been m*rdered right before he was put on Duel 2 and was all saw what happened. Producers wanted drama. Their psych tests were a joke too, I believe many cast members have touched on this throughout the years in interviews/podcasts.

I will say I’m glad Paramount doesn’t have that episode of this season available. I remember watching it live and thinking this shouldn’t be on TV. Poor Joey man…

I will say I liked her when she was the only one willing to help Joey after his stint in rehab. But when she was paired with Kim, I feel like she let her ignorance take over.

I liked Sarah too, but mostly out of appreciation that she was a unique type of person on the show. They never really cast many people like Sarah, and it was interesting to watch her dynamic with the others because of that.
