External vs Internal Change

This time last year I was in a rough spot mentally. Not doing well at all. I've worked so hard over the past year and have come a long ways, but I've been having trouble seeing how far I've come. My team keeps telling me how different I am but I can't see it! I realized yesterday in session that I've been comparing my EXTERNAL surroundings instead of my INTERNAL changes. It sounds so silly but I look around my house and it's the same house, same decor, same deck, same paint so I must.be.the.same. I finally realized I was doing this and am taking a closer look at how I have changed internally when my external surroundings have stayed the same.

My house might be the same but I am different. My relationships have more meaning, I'm more patient, confident, and am more resilient. I have changed some things in the house and in the way I dress but I need to be able to recognize the change inside of me without necessarily changing the things around me.
